Sphere Defense was founded by industry veterans with previous successful exits, and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, in the heart of Europe. /p h3About You /h3 pYou are an experienced and highly-motivated bFirmware Engineer /b that has worked with MCUs running bare-metal and RTOSs, and is experienced with building highly reliable embedded, mission-critical systems. Ideally, you have worked with autonomous systems. /p h3What You’ll Do /h3 ul liBe one of the first members of a high-performing team, designing and developing autonomous countermeasures to protect allied countries from aerial threats /li liDesign, develop and test high-performant and reliable firmware systems that encompass sensing, processing and actuation with low latency /li liTogether with the hardware team, bring-up boards and systems, ensuring that all intended functional and performance requirements are met /li liTroubleshoot and debug problems, ensuring that issues are addressed as they appear /li liEstablish CI/CD pipelines, focusing on QA aspects /li liBe a team player and a mentor, being available to support the team when needed /li /ul h3Location: /h3 pOnsite in Brussels, Belgium. Our office is close to Central Station. /p h3Reports to: /h3 pChief Technology Officer /p h3Requirements /h3 ul liBachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or equivalent /li liAt least 4 years in relevant role, with increasing levels of ownership /li liDemonstrated experience in the role, owning complex systems based on MCUs and MPUs running bare-metal and RTOS /li liProficiency in C/C++ and Python /li liExperience with bare-metal and RTOS firmware systems /li liExperience with Device Drivers development and Board Bringup, including BSP creation /li liExperience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.) for board bring-up and debug /li liExperience with implementing and maintaining complex. multi-stage, SIL/HIL CI/CD processes /li liExperience integrating sensors such as IMUs, network devices, etc. /li liExcellent interpersonal communication skills in written and spoken English; French or Dutch is a plus /li liYou are a self-starter, able to work in a high-ambiguity environment and willing to take up new challenges /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liExperience with Linux and Yocto-based embedded systems /li liExperience with the PX4 Flight Controller or other flight controllers /li liProficient in Rust /li liExperience with ST and NXP chipsets /li liExperience with server communication (REST, gRPC, etc.) /li liExperience with Mobile Apps integration (BLE, WiFi) /li /ul h3What
