A multinational defence organisation runs a portfolio of capability projects under a lead project manager, and needs someone to take assigned projects and deliver them — including the business case that secures the funding in the first place.
What you would be doing
- Planning, implementing and managing assigned projects to the organisation's project management policies and procedures.
- Developing the business case behind a project — procurement strategy, benefits, risk analysis and the proposal itself — to secure sponsor acceptance and funding.
- Running the management, coordination and quality assurance that delivery of a capability actually requires.
- Understanding what the client needs, gathering the data, doing the analysis and resolving the problems that surface.
- Delivering within agreed scope, time, cost and quality tolerances, and reporting progress both routinely and when asked.
- Identifying and allocating the resources needed to hit milestones, and starting corrective action when they slip.
- Managing performance indicators, risks and issues actively, with the logs kept current and deviations reported with a proposed course of action.
- Managing project cash flow and contributing to financial planning, reporting and multi-year business planning.
- Supervising project team members directly or in a matrix, and leading meetings with team, stakeholders and customers.
- Keeping project artefacts accurate and current by reviewing them regularly.
What you would bring
- Delivery of projects inside a larger programme, under a lead project manager.
- Business case development, including procurement strategy and benefits analysis.
- Planning and resource allocation that survives contact with reality, and the willingness to correct rather than explain.
- Active risk and issue management with logs people trust.
- Financial planning, forecasting and cash flow management for projects.
- Supervising team members in a matrix organisation.
- Fluent professional English.
