Permits Advisor

Are you passionate about environmental regulations, urban planning, and sustainable infrastructure projects? We are looking for a Permits Advisor to play a key role in supporting major water, sewerage, and environmental infrastructure projects across Flanders.

As part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will drive permit processes from start to finish, ensuring projects comply with all legal and environmental requirements while contributing to a more sustainable future.

Your Responsibilities

Permit Management & Advisory

Lead and coordinate permit procedures for infrastructure projects.

Manage environmental, urban planning, nature, heritage, and archaeological permit applications.

Identify permitting risks during the design phase and provide practical recommendations.

Ensure permit applications are submitted accurately and on time.

Stakeholder Management

Act as the main point of contact between project teams, authorities, government agencies, and external stakeholders.

Build strong relationships and facilitate smooth communication throughout the permit process.

Negotiate and align stakeholders to support project objectives.

Regulatory & Legal Compliance

Provide guidance on environmental legislation and planning regulations.

Monitor developments in relevant laws and regulations.

Ensure projects comply with all applicable permitting and legal requirements.

Project Support

Support multidisciplinary project teams with permitting expertise.

Analyze issues, assess risks, and develop solution-oriented recommendations.

Contribute to the successful delivery of water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure projects.

Required Profile

✅ Background in:

Environmental Management

Environmental Consulting

Urban Planning

Spatial Planning

Environmental Engineering

Permit Management

✅ Knowledge of:

Environmental legislation

Urban planning regulations

Environmental and Planning Decree

Heritage and archaeological procedures

✅ Experience with:

Permit applications and permitting processes

Public authorities and government stakeholders

Infrastructure or construction-related projects

✅ Strong:

Communication and networking skills

Negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Analytical and problem-solving abilities

Organizational and planning skills

Nice to Have

GIS / ArcGIS experience

SAP knowledge

Experience in water, wastewater, sewerage, or utility projects

Experience working with public sector organizations

Environmental compliance and sustainability projects

Language Requirements

🇳🇱 Dutch: Native or Bilingual

🇬🇧 English is a plus
