NIS2 Cybersecurity Project Manager / Information Security Consultant Overview This role operates within the Chief Security Office (CSO) and supports the Chief Security Officer in defining and implementing the organisation's cybersecurity vision and strategy. The consultant works closely with the Information Security Manager (IT department) to strengthen information security governance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. A key objective of this role is to achieve and maintain compliance with NIS2 requirements , including supporting the organisation's certification efforts. The consultant acts as a Project Manager for NIS2 implementation and compliance activities .
Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity Governance & Strategy Contribute to the definition and implementation of the organisation's cybersecurity strategy Align information security policies with organisational risk appetite and regulatory requirements Maintain and update information security policies and governance documentation NIS2 Compliance & Project Management Lead and coordinate NIS2 compliance initiatives, including planning, execution, and monitoring Define and follow up on action plans to achieve and maintain compliance and certification objectives Track progress of cybersecurity measures and ensure timely implementation Risk Management & Security Controls Contribute to identification, assessment, and monitoring of information security risks Support implementation of security controls to protect systems, data, and networks Ensure integration of security requirements into existing business and IT processes Stakeholder Management & Communication Act as a point of contact for information security-related topics (non-technical escalation supported by senior profiles) Translate technical cybersecurity concepts into clear, understandable language for non-technical stakeholders Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to embed security practices Contribute to reporting dashboards and security posture updates for management Awareness & Continuous Improvement Support cybersecurity awareness initiatives under guidance of senior security leadership Stay up to date with cybersecurity trends, standards, and regulatory developments (e.g. NIS2, ISO 27001, NIST) Contribute to continuous improvement of security governance and practices Profile / Requirements Approximately 4 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, cybersecurity, or related field Understanding of cybersecurity governance, risk management, and security policies Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CyberFundamentals, or NIS2 is an advantage Basic certification (or in progress) such as Security+, ISO 27001 Foundation, or equivalent is a plus Experience in project management is required Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams Interest in both technical and organisational aspects of cybersecurity Languages Dutch or French: Native or bilingual proficiency English: Limited working proficiency Location & Conditions
Location:
Brussels (Rue Royale 76, 1000 Brussels) Work model: Hybrid (2–3 days on site per week) Mission duration: Up to 880 working days (including extensions) Environment: Corporate cybersecurity governance within a public transport organisation context
