Dog Chef is a fast-growing Belgian scale-up revolutionizing the way dogs and cats are fed through fresh, balanced, and personalized meals.
Since our creation, our ambition has been clear: to become the European reference in premium pet nutrition. Today, we prepare and deliver hundreds of thousands of meals every month across several European markets.
To support our growth and strengthen our Finance team, we are looking for a Senior Accountant who can take full ownership of our accounting activities and become a true business partner to our CFO.
Your missionAs a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing Dog Chef’s accounting operations from A to Z.
As our internal accounting expert, you will ensure the accuracy of our financial data, guarantee compliance across our operations, and support the company’s growth.
You will work closely with our CFO and our external partner BDO, while acting as the key point of contact for all accounting-related matters.
You will also benefit from the support of our administrative assistant, who contributes to the smooth follow-up of administrative tasks, allowing everyone to focus on their area of expertise.
Your responsibilitiesDaily accounting managementManage the full general accounting cycle (AP, AR, GL); Supervisesupplier invoice processing and ensure accurate analytical allocation; Execute supplier payments and monitor payment deadlines; Follow upon customer and supplier accounts, as well as outstanding balances; Ensure proper administrative follow-up of all documents required for reliable and structured accounting.
Closing & financial reportingPerform monthly and yearly closings; Carry outaccount reconciliations and balance sheet reviews; Contribute to the preparation of annual accounts; Ensure the quality and compliance of financial data according to Belgian GAAP standards; Develop and monitor financial insights by department through our Emasphère tool (analytical P&L reporting).
Continuous improvement & Finance projectsProactively identify opportunities to improve our accounting and financial processes; Participate in Finance projects linked to our growth; Contribute to implementing tools and best practices to further structure our organization.
Support & collaborationAct as the main point of contact for internal and external accounting questions (suppliers, authorities, partners, etc.); Prepare and monitor VAT declarations; Collaborate closely with our external accounting partner BDO; Identify potential subsidy opportunities and ensure proper follow-up of related files.
Your profile
You are an accountant looking for a role with greater impact and ownership.

You are a great fit if:You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification; You have at least 5 years of experience in general accounting, ideally in a role where you managed a complete accounting scope; You have a strong understanding of Belgian accounting principles (Belgian GAAP) and can ensure operational compliance; You have excellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detail; You are comfortable working in a fast-growing environment where priorities evolve quickly; You enjoycollaborating with different stakeholders; You are curiousand open to new technologies, with a willingness to use AI tools on a daily basis to improve efficiency, automate tasks, and continuously optimize the way we work.
Your technical skillsStrong knowledge of accounting software (experience with Exact Online is a plus); Knowledgeof Emasphère is an advantage; Good command ofMicrosoft Office tools, especially Excel.
Your language skillsFrench: excellent written and spoken proficiency; Dutch: professional working proficiency; English: professional working proficiency.
