Detailed Job Description

As a Technical Lead supporting ThoughtLabs at the Schaarbeek Building in Brussels, Belgium, you will take full operational, architectural, and tactical ownership of software solution delivery, fit-gap analyses, and multi-year IT implementation initiatives. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing scalable enterprise solutions utilizing Microsoft technologies (.NET, Visual Studio, SQL Server), integrating modern cloud and containerization platforms on Azure, and enforcing rigorous software architecture, security, and compliance standards. You will collaborate closely with European institutional stakeholders, product managers, and agile development squads, while maintaining bilingual proficiency in English and either French or Dutch.

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead the design, development, and implementation of complex enterprise solutions and IT project deliverables.
• Architect robust software applications utilizing modern Microsoft technologies including .NET, Visual Studio, and SQL Server.
• Integrate cloud-native architectures, RESTful APIs, and containerized microservices workloads on Microsoft Azure.
• Conduct comprehensive fit-gap analyses, software selection evaluations, and technical feasibility assessments.
• Enforce rigorous software architecture standards, cybersecurity compliance protocols, and IT service management best practices.
• Lead agile software development lifecycle (SDLC) ceremonies, sprint planning, and cross-functional technical squads.
• Partner with European institutional stakeholders to translate business requirements into precise technical specifications.
• Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, solution blueprints, and technical runbooks.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive professional experience in technical leadership, solution delivery, or IT project implementation.
• Strong, demonstrable hands‑on professional expertise in Microsoft enterprise technologies (.NET, Visual Studio, SQL Server).
• Comprehensive working knowledge and practical proficiency in modern cloud integration, APIs, and containerization on Azure.
• Deep practical experience conducting fit‑gap analyses, software evaluation, and enterprise architecture design.
• Solid practical grasp of software security compliance, IT service management frameworks, and Agile methodologies.
• Mandatory professional fluency in English along with either French or Dutch.
• Mandatory EU citizenship or possession of a valid work permit for professional operations in Belgium.
