About the Role
Are you a sustainable tourism expert with a deep network of European tour operators? Leaders International is seeking an independent Market Outreach Consultant to map the European travel landscape, conduct structured B2B outreach, and pave the way for exciting new ecotourism offerings in Jordan's stunning Eastern Badia region.
Assignment Objectives
The consultancy has three specific objectives:
- Map the European tour operator landscape relevant to Jordan ecotourism and identify the most promising targets for Eastern Badia.
- Conduct structured outreach and conversations with a defined list of operators to gauge interest in adding Eastern Badia, Al Shaumari, and Al Dahek to their portfolios.
- Document findings in a comprehensive market sounding report with actionable recommendations.
Scope of Work & Timeline
Phase 1: Mapping & Preparation (Weeks 1–3)
- Develop a longlist of 30–50 European tour operators active in sustainable, adventure, or cultural tourism in the Middle East.
- Screen and shortlist 15–20 priority operators based on destination fit, sustainability credentials, and decision‑maker accessibility.
- Refine a concise destination brief on Eastern Badia for operator outreach.
- Develop a tailored outreach script and core messaging framework.
- Deliverable 1: Shortlisted operator database with profiling and prioritization rationale.
Phase 2: Outreach & Conversations (Weeks 4–9)
- Conduct direct outreach to the 15–20 shortlisted operators via email, LinkedIn, phone, or industry contacts.
- Hold 15–30 minute structured interviews to gauge destination awareness, interest levels, product fit, barriers, and partnership conditions.
- Maintain a real-time shared outreach tracker.
- Flag high-interest operators immediately for potential Familiarization (Fam) trip invitations.
- Deliverable 2: Outreach tracker with detailed interaction notes and contact statuses.
Phase 3: Synthesis & Reporting (Weeks 10–12)
- Analyze findings to identify patterns in operator interest, barriers, and conditions.
- Produce a 10–15 page market sounding report featuring an interest assessment, key barriers, and next steps.
- Present findings during an online debrief session with the Leaders International team.
- Deliverable 3: Market sounding report + debrief presentation.
Target Operator Landscape
The consultant will build upon and expand an initial list of European segments, including:
- Responsible & Adventure: e.g., Intrepid Travel, G Adventures, Exodus Travels, Wild Frontiers, Explore Worldwide.
- Specialist Middle East / Jordan: e.g., Undiscovered Destinations, Caravanserai Tours, Authentic Travelling.
- Birdwatching & Nature Tourism: e.g., Naturetrek, Limosa Holidays, Wildlife Worldwide.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in sustainable/adventure tourism, tour operator business development, or destination marketing.
- Network: An active, existing network of European responsible/adventure travel operators (specifically at the product development or purchasing level).
- Destination Knowledge: Familiarity with Jordan or the Middle East as a tourism destination is highly preferred.
- Communication: Flawless written and verbal English communication skills.
- Working Style: Highly independent, organized, and deadline-driven.
