We are looking for a talented Junior Associate (1 to 3 years' experience) to join our growing Competition practice in Belgium.
You will be involved in a broad range of international competition law matters, including merger control, foreign direct investment (FDI) screening, Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) matters, behavioral competition law, investigations and state aid matters.

Main duties and responsibilitiesAs a Junior Associate within the Competition team in our Brussels office, you will work on a wide range of competition law matters for multinational corporations, private equity sponsors, financial investors and public sector clients, both domestic and cross-border.
In collaboration with the Partner and senior lawyers, you will take on real responsibility early and develop your skills as a competition lawyer in an international environment.
Your role will involve:Assisting on merger control and foreign investment (FDI) filings before the European Commission and national authoritiesAdvising on Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) mattersConducting legal research and preparing tailored competition law advice for clientsAssisting clients in behavioural and commercial competition law mattersSupporting clients in competition investigations, information requests and market inquiriesAdvising on state aid mattersCoordinating with foreign counsel and other DLA Piper offices on multijurisdictional projectsDrafting notifications, submissions, client memoranda and regulatory filingsCollaborating closely with the team to discuss legal strategy and client solutionsAbout youCandidates should be able to demonstrate that they have/are:Qualified to practise as a lawyer in Belgium, or working towards qualification1 to 3 years of experience in competition lawExperience or strong interest in merger control, FDI, FSR, investigations and behavioural competition lawFluent in English, both written and spokenHigh work standards with a strong service orientationExcellent communication and drafting skillsExcellent legal skills and an analytical mind, with attention to detailAbility to prioritise and efficiently manage complex mattersWell organised, proactive, flexible, pragmatic, social and a team playerAbility to work in a fast-paced international environmentAccuracy, confidentiality and punctuality are second nature to youKeen to develop a long-term career in competition law within a leading international law firm
