We are looking for an experienced Houdini Environment Artist to join our CG team and create high-quality digital environments for film and episodic VFX projects.

The ideal candidate combines a strong artistic eye with solid procedural skills in Houdini. You will be responsible for building, scattering and refining complex natural and architectural environments, from early layout through to final render-ready assets.

Responsibilities

  • Create photorealistic natural and architectural environments using Houdini.
  • Buildprocedural systems for terrain generation, vegetation, rocks,debrisand environmental variation.
  • Assemble and manage large-scale environments efficiently.
  • Generate andoptimisegeometry for both foreground and background elements.
  • Createprocedural scattering andinstancingsystems.
  • Integrate environments with supplied plates, LiDAR scans,photogrammetryand layout scenes.
  • Prepareenvironmentassets for lighting and rendering.
  • Collaborate closely with VFX Supervisors, CG Supervisors, FX, Lighting and Compositing teams.
  • Respond to creative and technical feedback whilemaintainingvisual consistency.
  • Troubleshoot performance, scenecomplexityand render-related issues.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable tools and efficient environment workflows.

Profile

  • Strong professional experience with Houdini, particularly SOP-based procedural workflows.
  • A strong portfoliodemonstratingphotorealistic environment work.
  • Good understanding of terrain creation, procedural modelling,scatteringand instancing.
  • Experience creating natural elements such as landscapes, vegetation, rocks, snow,ruinsor urban environments.
  • Strong understanding of scale, composition, lighting,colourand atmospheric perspective.
  • Ability to work with large and complex datasets while keeping scenes efficient.
  • Understanding ofVFX production workflows and the requirements of downstream departments.
  • Ability to balance artistic quality with production constraints.
  • Good communicationskills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
