About Raiyo
Raiyo, an operating division of Robovision, develops and manufactures software as medical devices (SaMD) for radiology applications that enables disease detection, segmentation, and treatment planning with the objective to support radiologists by assisting in the identification of diseases and helping medical teams make the most appropriate treatment decisions. Our first SaMD (CE-marking in process) will allow the detection and monitoring of intracranial metastases in patients with primary non-intracranial cancer.
Your role As a Data Scientist, you will work at the intersection of AI development and medical device compliance, turning patient and device data into models that hold up in the field and under audit.
What you'll do:
Collect and analyse medical device data.
Work with patient data, device data, and other relevant sources to understand the problem space and inform model development.
Develop and optimise AI models.
Select appropriate algorithms, design training and validation datasets, and tune model performance to improve device accuracy, reliability, and, ultimately, patient outcomes.
Collaborate across teams.
Work with software development engineers, regulatory specialists, medical specialists, and colleagues in other teams to align on shared goals, and contribute realistic effort estimates for model development work.
Support regulatory compliance and risk management.
Contribute to the risk analysis of each device developed and placed on the market, together with the QA & RA manager, and contribute to the software-related records that form part of the Medical Device File.
Handle patient data responsibly.
Ensure data is collected, processed, and used in an ethical, secure, and compliant manner throughout the model development lifecycle.
Education
Master's or PhD
degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience
A
minimum of three years of experience in data science , gained through education, personal projects, or professional work.
Professional
experience in data science for medical devices
is preferred, including exposure to regulatory compliance and risk management.
Skills and knowledge
Proficiency in
Python, SQL, and data manipulation tools
such as Pandas, SciPy, OpenCV, and PyTorch, used to develop algorithms and perform data analysis.
A good understanding of regulatory requirements such as the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), 21 CFR, ISO 13485, ISO/IEC 62304, and other applicable regulations.
A basic
understanding of the software development lifecycle , including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and maintenance.
Familiarity with
machine learning algorithms,
deep learning, and statistical models used to build predictive models and analyse complex datasets.
Experience with
data visualisation tools
to turn complex datasets into insights that support decision-making.
Knowledge of
data cleaning and preprocessing techniques , including feature engineering, dimensionality reduction, and data normalisation.
A good understanding of model deployment and API software interfaces.
A strong grasp of
mathematical and statistical concepts , including probability, linear algebra, and hypothesis testing, applied to data analysis and model validation.
The
ability
to
select
appropriate
data
models
and evaluation metrics for a given problem and domain.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues and bugs in data and models.
Experience with data integration and data engineering, including data quality assessment and data profiling.
A good understanding of regulatory and ethical considerations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and HIPAA, as they apply to data handling and analysis.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams, including engineers, domain experts, and business stakeholders.
Fluency in
English
is required; Dutch and/or French are a plus.
