ppCiti is seeking a Public Sector Banking Director for Europe, to lead the development and execution of a client acquisition and revenue strategy across European public sector institutions, working directly with the Global Public Sector Head and senior country leaders. Based in Brussels, this role sits within Citi's Public Sector Banking group, which serves Central Governments, Central Banks, Sovereign Wealth Funds, State-Owned Enterprises, and Development Finance Institutions across both developed and emerging markets. This is a high-impact senior position that combines strategic client leadership with hands-on origination across Citi's full product platform. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliLead the European public sector banking strategy, setting and achieving client acquisition and revenue targets in partnership with the Global Public Sector Head and regional leadership. /liliBuild and sustain trusted senior-level client relationships across European public sector institutions, engaging at Minister level and above to advance long-term strategic dialogue. /liliOriginate and close business opportunities across the full spectrum of Citi's product capabilities, including fixed income, structured finance, derivatives, FX, export and agency finance, and treasury services. /liliPartner with product specialists to design client solutions that are commercially sound, scalable, and aligned to the specific needs of sovereign and institutional clients. /liliCollaborate with independent risk partners to actively manage portfolio and individual client risk, targeting optimized risk-adjusted returns across the European public sector book. /liliDrive thought leadership within the public sector space, representing Citi at external forums and serving as a subject matter expert and speaker on topics relevant to sovereign and institutional clients. /liliMentor and develop junior bankers, building their technical knowledge of public sector finance and sharpening their client engagement capabilities. /li /ulh3Required Qualifications Skills /h3ulliIdeally Ten or more years of experience in corporate banking and/or development finance, with direct coverage of public sector clients including central governments, sovereign wealth funds, state-owned enterprises, or development finance institutions. /liliEstablished senior-level relationships within the European public sector banking ecosystem, with the ability to engage credibly at government and institutional leadership level. /liliDemonstrated ability to originate and structure complex cross-product transactions, with a corporate finance mindset and deep familiarity with credit, sovereign risk, and capital markets instruments. /liliTrack record of meeting and exceeding revenue and portfolio targets within a large, matrixed financial institution. /liliStrong credit skills with specific experience evaluating sovereign and quasi-sovereign credits across European jurisdictions. /liliMaster's degree, MBA, or equivalent advanced qualification. /liliFluency in English; the position is based in Brussels and requires the ability to operate effectively across European geographies and institutional cultures. /li /ulh3Beneficial Skills Qualifications /h3ulliProficiency in one or more additional European languages, enabling deeper engagement with local government and institutional clients. /liliEstablished connections within the EU institutional ecosystem, including EU agencies, multilateral bodies, or Brussels-based policy institutions. /liliExperience structuring export finance, agency finance, or development-linked financing solutions for sovereign or quasi-sovereign counterparties. /li /ulh3What
