Role Purpose

The Lifting Operations Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership,

governance, and operational oversight of all lifting operations and vertical transport

systems across TSL projects.

The role ensures that lifting activities are planned, procured, and executed safely,

compliantly, and efficiently, while embedding best practice, supporting project

teams, managing high-risk activities, and developing lifting competence across the

business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and technical oversight for lifting operations and

vertical transport systems across TSL projects.

• Set, maintain, and embed TSL standards, procedures, and best practice for

lifting operations.

• Provide technical input during pre-construction, including crane selection, lift

planning strategy, and procurement support.

• Review, approve, and challenge lifting plans for high-risk, complex, or nonroutine lifting operations.

• Support project teams during critical lifting activities, including crane

erection, dismantling, and complex lifts.

• Oversee the management and assurance of lifting plant suppliers and

contractors, including audits and technical reviews.

• Provide specialist input into investigations of lifting-related incidents, near

misses, and high-risk activities.

• Work closely with EHS and project teams to ensure lifting operations are

safely integrated into project delivery.

• Develop and deliver lifting-related training and technical briefings, including

the TSL Lifting Managers Course.

• Act as a technical point of contact with clients, regulators, and industry

bodies on lifting-related matters.

• Promote continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned, industry

developments, and innovation in lifting systems. xlxgzvr

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in lifting operations (e.g. Authorised Person, Lifting

Manager, Crane Supervisor)

• Proven experience planning and managing complex lifting operations and

crane strategies

• Confident reviewing and challenging lifting plans and contractor proposals

• Experience working with cranes, construction hoists, and specialist access

systems

• Ability to lead, influence, and communicate effectively with project teams

and senior stakeholders
