Mission Context
As Artificial Intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into banking services and operations, our client is strengthening its Responsible AI capabilities to ensure that AI systems are developed, deployed, and monitored in line with regulatory requirements, risk management standards, ethical principles, environmental considerations, and societal expectations.
The Responsible AI Consultant will play a key role in the implementation of a strategic Responsible AI framework, ensuring the development of trustworthy, robust, transparent, and sustainable AI solutions while supporting business innovation and regulatory compliance.
Function Description
- Design, develop, and implement AI Risk Management Frameworks, including governance boards, policies, processes, controls, artefacts, and supporting tools
- Establish and promote Responsible AI principles covering:
- Accountability and ownership
- Robustness and safety
- Transparency and explainability
- Human oversight
- Privacy and data governance
- Non-discrimination and fairness
- Societal and environmental impact
- Identify, assess, and mitigate AI-related risks, including bias, hallucinations, explainability challenges, model reliability, operational risks, and security concerns
- Provide independent technical expertise and challenge AI-related decisions to ensure the development of robust and trustworthy AI systems
- Support the definition and execution of AI governance and risk management processes throughout the AI lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Data Governance, and Security teams to ensure alignment with BNP Paribas Group policies and regulatory requirements
- Partner with Data Scientists, AI Engineers, Business Analysts, and Business Owners to integrate Responsible AI practices into AI use cases and solutions
- Contribute to the development of medium- and long-term Responsible AI strategies supporting business growth and innovation
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments, including the European AI Act, GDPR, and emerging AI governance frameworks
- Facilitate discussions, workshops, and awareness initiatives related to Responsible AI and AI governance
- Act as a trusted advisor and sounding board for AI governance, ethics, and risk management topics
Language Requirements
- English: Fluent (mandatory)
- Professional proficiency in French and/or Dutch
Education
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Certifications
• Certifications related to Artificial Intelligence, Responsible AI, AI Governance, Data Science, Risk Management, Compliance, or Regulatory Frameworks are considered a strong asset
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, AI Governance, Responsible AI, Risk Management, Data Science, or a related field
- Previous technical experience in AI development, preferably as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or AI Specialist
- Experience within financial services, banking, insurance, or other regulated industries is considered a strong advantage
Technical Skills
Mandatory:
- Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts
- Knowledge of Responsible AI principles and AI governance frameworks
- Ability to identify and manage AI-related risks from technical, legal, ethical, operational, and security perspectives
- Understanding of AI-specific challenges such as bias, fairness, explainability, robustness, reliability, and hallucinations
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing AI development and deployment, including the European AI Act and GDPR
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Experience with AI model validation or model risk management
