BELUX Maintenance Manager1. About HertzHertz is a global mobility company focused on operational excellence, cost efficiency, and customer experience. Role PurposeThe BELUX Maintenance Manager owns end-to-end maintenance performance across Belgium and Luxembourg.
The role ensures that vehicles are:Safe, compliant, and roadworthyAvailable for rental at optimal utilizationMaintained at lowest sustainable costRepaired efficiently with minimal downtimeThis role directly impacts utilization, NPS, OoS, and total fleet cost.
This role reports to the Director Fleet / Country Fleet leadership and leads the BELUX maintenance network, including internal coordinators, workshop operations, and external repair partners.3.
Key Responsibilities
A. Maintenance Strategy & GovernanceDefine and execute the BELUX maintenance strategy aligned with fleet and operational objectivesStandardize processes across BE/LU (damage handling, repairs, preventive maintenance)Implement governance routines (KPIs, supplier reviews, audit checks)B. Operational Maintenance PerformanceOwn performance of:Repair lead timeOut-of-service (OoS) daysTurnaround time (TAT)Workshop productivityDrive rapid vehicle turnaround from damage to readinessEnsure consistent service levels across all stations and hubsC. Supplier & Workshop ManagementManage relationships with:BodyshopsMechanical workshopsTires, glass, and specialist vendorsNegotiate labor rates, SLAs, and service conditionsMonitor vendor performance (cost, quality, cycle time)Optimize workshop footprint (insourcing vs outsourcing)D. Cost Control & Financial OwnershipOwn maintenance and damage budget across BELUXOptimize:Labor cost per repairParts cost and sourcing strategyCost per damage caseDrive cost reduction initiatives without impacting quality or availabilityE. Damage & Claims OptimizationStandardize damage assessment processes (fair, consistent, cost-controlled)Reduce claim leakage and unauthorized repair spendCollaborate with Operations and Claims teams to improve recovery ratesF. Compliance, Safety & Risk ManagementEnsure all vehicles comply with:Local technical inspections (APK / contrôle technique)Safety regulations and recall campaignsManage risk related to vehicle condition and liabilityMaintain audit-ready documentation and processesG. Fleet Lifecycle IntegrationCoordinate with:Fleet (acquisition & planning)Operations (utilization & availability)Remarketing (defleet condition & refurbishment)Support decisions on:Repair vs defleetRefurbishment investmentsResidual value preservation(Aligned with full lifecycle ownership of fleet operations including maintenance and repairs). Qualifications & RequirementsEducationBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive, Engineering, Logistics or BusinessExperience5–10+ years of relevant experience in fleet maintenance, automotive aftersales, leasing, rental fleet operations, or a comparable multi-site automotive environment in Belgium and Luxembourg.
