A&O Shearman Belgium is recruiting junior associates to join its Brussels and Antwerp offices as from September/October 2027. Starting your bar traineeship with us offers an excellent opportunity for ambitious law graduates to gain first-hand experience of working on high-profile Belgian and international matters.

Practice areas

We are currently recruiting bar trainees in the following practices:

  • mergers & acquisitions (Brussels/Antwerp)
  • antitrust (Brussels)
  • litigation & investigations (Brussels/Antwerp)
  • debt finance (Brussels/Antwerp)
  • financial services regulatory & capital markets (Brussels/Antwerp)
  • digital, data, IP & technology (Brussels/Antwerp)
  • environmental, administrative & regulatory (Brussels)
  • employment litigation (Brussels/Antwerp)
  • tax (Brussels)

Who we are looking for

  • You have obtained or will obtain a Belgian Master's degree in Law (or Master's degree within the EU for our antitrust practice), with strong academic results.
  • You are looking to start the bar traineeship in the fall of 2027.
  • You are fluent in English and have an excellent knowledge of French and/or Dutch.
  • You enjoy working in a team-oriented environment, while also being able to work independently.
