job description
. /p pVeraSafe frequently hires for lawyer and consultant positions on a rolling basis. We are growing rapidly and seek to proactively build a strong talent pool to meet sustained, increasing client demand. /p pWe encourage you to apply directly through LinkedIn, where every application is reviewed by a member of our team. To ensure we can devote our time to carefully reviewing each application, we are unable to respond to emails regarding this opening. /p h3About the Role: /h3 pThis is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to join a team working on the cutting edge of privacy and data protection, and who wants to further develop a practice in an in-demand area of law at the intersection of privacy and life science. We are inundated with business from clients in the life science and pharmaceutical space who love the way we advise on privacy compliance (hence the need for you). /p pWe have found our strongest team members don’t necessarily have prior experience in privacy law. You’ll begin with a robust and established onboarding and training process. We typically advance people more quickly than your typical law firm, and we do it on an individual basis (no lockstep promotions or compensation). /p pNote: There is a 1-3 hour skills assessment associated with the recruitment for this position. We know this is a burden, but we think it’s worth it, and we appreciate you taking the time to complete it. We’ve found it enables us to find the best lawyers, regardless of their experience, where they went to law school, or where they were trained. We want smart, kind, creative lawyers, plain and simple, and this assessment is a crucial part of our ability to hire this way. /p pWe are not your typical legal job. We use project managers to keep our remote team organized and our projects streamlined and on-track. We encourage our team members to travel and to make use of our ability to work as digital nomads, whether that means spending a few months abroad or on extended trips to be near family. We collaborate closely (you won’t feel like you’re working in isolation) and we actively encourage sharing of credit for work well done, resources, and advice (and penalize the reverse). We are not biglaw. We do top-notch work for interesting clients, yet we pride ourselves on our team members being happy, with time and energy for a life outside of work, which we believe makes us better lawyers who don’t burn out. /p pThe bottom line: If you want to learn or go deeper practicing privacy law, if you want to practice in a problem-solving environment focused on giving excellent and yet actionable advice, if you want to work with a global team of friendly, brilliant people, if you want the flexibility to work in a way that makes sense to you, please apply /p h3Responsibilities include: /h3 ul liLeading the data protection aspects of a clinical trial from start to finish /li liAssessing study protocols for privacy issues /li liConducting data protection impact assessments /li liReviewing CTAs, ICFs, and privacy policies /li liDrafting data protection agreements, addenda, and amendments /li liResearching legal issues and composing legal opinions/memoranda /li liWriting clinical trials, GCP, and privacy law related articles and blog posts /li liAssisting in the development of in-house legal templates /li liContributing to the development of internal procedures and methodologies /li liCollaborating with a team of intellectual peers who value cooperation and community /li /ul h3What We Need From You /h3 h3Need to have: /h3 ul liAt least three years of work experience as a lawyer /li liAn interest in privacy and technology /li liTeam player, interested in contributing to a growing enterprise /li liStrong writing/editing skills and attention to detail /li liAbility to work remotely /li liWillingness to learn new skills and receive direction and feedback from partners /li liWillingness to pursue privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) /li /ul h3Nice to
