OT Data Engineer
Location:
Melle, Belgium Start Date: 2 November 2026 Duration: Until 31 October 2028, with potential extension Work Regime: Full-time Language: Dutch – CEFR C2 Seniority: Senior Role Overview We are looking for a Senior OT Data Engineer responsible for the end-to-end management, maintenance, and further development of OT data processing environments. You will work with large volumes of real-time operational data , ensuring reliable data flows from field systems through historical storage and data platforms. You will contribute to system stability, security, performance, data quality, integrations, and the development of new data products.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and further develop OT data processing environments and infrastructure. Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, databases, and integrations. Ensure stability, security, performance, and availability through health checks, upgrades, and patching. Plan and implement data refreshes in coordination with relevant stakeholders. Ensure data quality and effective data management. Develop new data products and integrations based on business requirements. Make OT data available to analysts and data scientists. Set up and maintain Linux/Unix environments. Set up and maintain Oracle database environments. Work with relational databases using Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL . Develop automation and operational scripts using Python and Shell scripting . Support large-scale, business-critical applications and infrastructure. Investigate and continuously optimize existing solutions. Must-Have Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Administrator in an ICT infrastructure environment. Minimum 5 years of experience building new data products, integrations, and projects . Demonstrable experience with Data Management . Minimum 5 years of experience setting up and maintaining Linux environments . Minimum 5 years of experience setting up and maintaining Oracle environments . Minimum 5 years of experience with relational databases , particularly Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL . Demonstrable experience with Python scripting . Demonstrable experience with Shell scripting . System engineering-level experience with at least one of Unix, Linux, or Windows . Higher education at Bachelor's or Master's level , or equivalent experience. Strong learning ability and a proactive attitude. Experience with large, business-critical applications. Experience working according to ISO 27001 principles and a strong security mindset. Minimum 2 years of experience setting up and maintaining Apache Cassandra environments . Experience with OT/SCADA systems . Experience in operational technology, industrial environments, or real-time data processing. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a senior infrastructure and data engineer who combines strong system administration, database, scripting, and data engineering expertise. You are comfortable working in business-critical environments, take ownership of end-to-end solutions, and proactively identify opportunities to improve stability, performance, security, and data quality. Dutch at CEFR C2 level is required.
