Overview
EY’s Indirect Tax Technology team provides companies with support and advice around the automation of their indirect tax processes. Our team works with an extensive range of clients across EMEIA, including many of the FTSE100 and the major Fortune 500. Finance and tax transformations, along with SAP S/4HANA, are significant opportunities for clients to improve their tax functions. As laws, regulations and technologies evolve, SAP DRC has become a cornerstone solution for statutory reporting, e‑invoicing and real‑time reporting obligations worldwide. This role places you at the heart of these transformations.
The Opportunity
Our services differ from other tax advisory services because you will combine indirect tax and technology skills. You will primarily act as a subject‑matter expert for SAP Document Compliance & Reporting, working closely with client businesses, maintaining technical knowledge, and specializing in the configuration of SAP Document Reporting & Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- You will work on large finance and tax transformations, helping clients leverage SAP and SAP DRC to improve the tax function by supporting and automating internal and external operations of multinational tax departments.
- Understand key indirect tax requirements and translate them into SAP and SAP DRC configuration.
- Work collaboratively with cross‑functional tax and consulting teams.
- Support end‑to‑end implementation of SAP DRC for e‑invoicing and e‑reporting, including requirements capture, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post‑go‑live support.
- Configure and optimize the SAP DRC/eDocument cockpit and related components to streamline invoice creation, validation, submission, and exception handling.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service.
- Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and growing your network.
- Contribute to the growth of our Indirect Tax Technology practice by monitoring regulatory developments and understanding how SAP and SAP DRC can be leveraged.
Your Profile
- A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a business‑related discipline (e.g. Economics, Engineering, IT, Accounting, Tax, etc.).
- Minimum two years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in implementing and configuring SAP Document Reporting & Compliance for e‑invoicing, e‑reporting and statutory reporting.
- Experience in SAP S/4HANA and/or ECC environments, ideally as part of broader SAP or indirect tax transformation programmes.
- Practical understanding of indirect tax and regulatory reporting requirements, sufficient to translate into SAP DRC requirements and configuration.
- Strong interest in technology and its use in business processes.
- Experience working in project‑based delivery environments is strongly preferred.
- Good communicator and client‑relationship experience.
- Strong and motivated team player.
- Motivated learner eager to explore new challenges (e.g. tax skills, new technology solutions) and to continuously develop SAP and SAP DRC expertise.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with exceptional client‑serving business skills.
Qualifications which are nice to have
- Indirect tax background: compliance, advisory, e‑invoicing and/or e‑reporting.
- Approved technical certification.
- Experience implementing third‑party indirect tax systems (e.g. ONESOURCE, Vertex, Avalara, Meridian, etc.).
- Experience defining data and reporting needs for a tax department.
- Experience working on large, multidisciplinary projects that impact tax (e.g. ERP implementations, tax co‑sourcing engagements, finance transformations).
- Self‑starter, good time manager and ability to deal with complexity and competing priorities.
- Strong and motivated team player.
