Job Description
As a Clean & Black Utilities Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Clean Utilities and Black Utilities systems within pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. You will work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure that utility systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Clean & Black Utilities systems, including Purified Water (PW), Water for Injection (WFI), Clean Steam, Compressed Air, process gases, HVAC-related utilities, and wastewater systems.
- Manage engineering projects from concept design through commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance with project timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate utility systems into both existing and new manufacturing facilities.
- Perform feasibility studies, technical assessments, and risk analyses for utility-related projects.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including cGMP requirements and pharmaceutical industry standards.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including user requirements, technical specifications, design documents, validation protocols, and test reports.
- Provide technical support to Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve utility system issues.
- Deliver training and technical guidance related to Clean & Black Utilities systems and best engineering practices. Additional Responsibilities
- Define functional, technical, operational, and quality requirements for utility systems.
- Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, utility schemes, and engineering calculations.
- Review tender packages, support contractor selection processes, and monitor contractor performance during project execution.
- Ensure operability, maintainability, and Health & Safety requirements are incorporated throughout all project phases.
- Prepare commissioning, qualification, inspection, and testing requirements for projects.
- Assess and verify the legal and regulatory compliance of utility systems.
- Perform on-site inspections to ensure construction and installation activities are executed according to engineering standards and industry best practices.
- Interface with existing and new site utility infrastructures, ensuring proper utility tie-ins and fluid connections across facilities. Required Qualifications
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or highly regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of Clean Utilities systems (PW, WFI, Clean Steam, Compressed Air, Process Gases) and Black Utilities systems (industrial water, wastewater, steam, chilled water, heating systems, etc.).
- Good understanding of cGMP requirements and pharmaceutical engineering standards.
- Experience managing engineering projects within industrial or pharmaceutical environments.
- Familiarity with qualification and commissioning activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with engineering design tools, CAD software, and project management applications.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
