Payments‑Only Business Analyst –
Job Description
Role Summary The Payments Business Analyst ensures the successful delivery of payment‑related initiatives by bridging business needs with technical implementation across SEPA, Instant Payments, cross‑border payments, digital channels, and wallet‑based payment solutions. The role focuses on requirements analysis, payment flows, regulatory compliance, API/data mapping, testing, and stakeholder coordination within the payment’s ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Payments Requirements & Functional Analysis
- Collect, analyse, and document end‑to‑end business and functional requirements related to payments, including SEPA, Instant Payments, cross‑border transfers, regulatory mandates, operational rules, and channel behaviors.
- Translate payment business needs into clear functional requirements for IT, Operations, and Payment Engines.
- Conduct gap analysis on payment processes, backend alignment, bulk payments, and integration points. Payment Methods, Wallets & Local Schemes The BA must demonstrate strong domain expertise across:
- SEPA Credit Transfer, SEPA Instant, International payments, and scheme rulebooks.
- E-payments ( CB,TPE,E-Banking, PSP
- Domestic and digital wallet ecosystems (Payconiq, Wero, mobile wallets, e‑wallets).
- Card rails, e‑payments, PSP flows, acquiring, and payment transaction lifecycle. Testing & Delivery Support
- Support test case creation, execution of payment scenarios, incident resolution, and coordination with QA teams.
- Work closely with tribe/squad members to track defects, sign‑off testing cycles, and manage readiness activities. Stakeholder Engagement & Workshops
- Prepare and facilitate workshops with cash management teams, operations, product owners, and cross‑functional payment stakeholders.
- Document meeting minutes, decisions, and action items clearly for impacted payment domain Supporting Product, Channels & Go‑to‑Market
- Partner with Product Owners to support payment roadmap delivery, refinement sessions, and sprint planning.
- Contribute to go‑to‑market planning for payables/receivables products, collateral updates, and client communication (when applicable). Required Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of SEPA, SCT Inst, international payments, clearing & settlement flows, and regulatory initiatives.
- Experience with Instant Payments engines, corporate bulk payments, and payment channel integration.
- Familiarity with payment transaction lifecycles, acquisition, validation, authorization, clearing, settlement, and treasury impacts.
- Knowledge of digital payment methods: wallets, Payconiq, Wero, PSPs, and e‑commerce payment journeys. Required Skills & Experience
- Experience writing high‑quality user stories and functional specifications for payment systems.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to perform data analysis, API mapping, and conceptual modelling.
- Experience working in Agile and hybrid delivery models (Scrum, SAFe, V‑cycle).
- Minimum 3–5 years (or more for senior roles) in payment‑focused BA roles.
