Reporting to the Department Manager Construction, the Construction Manager will provide high level construction management expertise and will be responsible for the delivery of construction projects. This includes but is not limited to: project initiation, planning, execution, project monitoring & performance, and project closure. The post-holder will be responsible for co-ordinating with Engineering Design and Commissioning /Qualification activities on the projects. He/she will work as part of a local / regional multidisciplinary project engineering team but may also be required to provide Construction Management support to projects executed from any of our Arcadis worldwide offices. He/she will hold responsibility for all People Management activity for those within your remit. In addition to developing and leading your high-performance team, the Construction Manager will have full responsibility for effectively managing each client relationship to ensure that expectations are met, relationships are maintained and that Arcadis’ interests are protected. He/she will have the ability to analyse key stages of each project with a view to identifying / anticipating any risks which may arise. He/she will subsequently apply your problem-solving capability to remove / mitigate any risk as identified. The post-holder will be required to have the tenacity, flexibility and adaptability to provide the end-to-end Construction Management experience in a dynamic, fast paced environment, whilst continuously ensuring the prioritization and balance of organizational, team and client needs. At all times our Construction Managers will demonstrate the standards and values required by Arcadis Engineering.
Responsibilities:
Prepare the Constructability plan and ensure the construction is executed following this document.
Prepare and update frequently the Construction Safety Plan (CSP) and ensure the construction is executed following the CSP.
Assure the CSP is part of all the ITT packagesBy management and guidance of supervision, ensure site productivity and efficiencyIdentifying field-construction and work-sequence considerations in collaboration with planification teamIn collaboration with CM superintendent, CM assistants, package supervisors, EHS team, Control and co-ordinate the work of the contractors true the daily Tier 0Ensure that all personnel on site are instructed/trained and motivated with respect to health, safety and environmental requirementsEnsure that all personnel comply with the site regulationsEnsure that all compagnies and personnel comply with permit to work procedures.
Ensure all construction contractors, supervision adhere strictly to the project drawings, specifications, standards and procedures.
In collaboration with package owners and supervisors, ensure that Quality Policies are implemented and understood by all contractors.
Communicate to the construction Departement Manager any deviations from the DPS procedures related to work instructions and guidelinesHighlight any remaining risk to the Project ManagementGive support to Project control team for monitoring and communicating the progress scheduleGive support for Preparing the Construction Schedule and construction sequences.
Ensure the agreed construction works are managed and delivered up to handoverSupport the implementation of the approved EHS program on siteCoordinating and identifying all EHS risk with the Health & Safety ManagerReview and approve in collaboration with the EHS team the RAMS (prepared by the contractors) prior to worksPrepare working permits or Review working permits prepared by the contractors prior to works and manage the works on siteOrganize, in collaboration with the package owners and the EHS manager the preparation and execution of LOTO consignments (LOG OUT/ TAG OUT)Provide adequate site security, logistics and safe working environment for the siteEnsure the site signage, perimeter fencing/hoarding & ancillary site set up supports are in placeEnsure an Emergency Response Plan has been developed for the OPUS projectParticipating in the kick-off meeting with the contractorsMaintaining labor relations with the client and the contractorsProfile:A relevant third level degree in your associated specialismA minimum of 12
- 15 years’ experience in the disciplineExperience in a similar role is a +Demonstrable experience of managing core discipline teams (such as Automation, C&Q, E&I) within the pharmaceuticals area.
Other industry experience such as medical devices, microelectronics or similar an advantageDemonstrable experience of building strong internal & external relationshipsRecognized Senior Department / Discipline Manager with a strong experience of large Project collaborationDemonstrated ability to successfully deliver business projectsProficiency and experience with construction contractsHigh level of commitment and project discipline ownership.
