Would you like to join the leading international intergovernmental organization? The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) is seeking a highly skilled and cleared Zabbix Systems Monitoring Engineer to join the Service Management and Control (SMC) team within the Coherence Branch in Brussels. This is a critical, hands-on technical role responsible for the maintenance, enhancement, and expansion of the Agency's enterprise-wide Zabbix monitoring solution across multiple classified networks. Operating within an Agile (sprint-based) framework, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and security visibility of NATO's IT infrastructure in Brussels. You will work within a dynamic team environment, directly contributing to the NATO HQ Accreditation project by designing monitoring architectures, automating event response, and providing expert-level support for a large-scale, multi-domain Zabbix deployment.
Responsibilities:
System Maintenance & Operations: Maintain, patch, and continuously improve the existing Zabbix monitoring implementation across already monitored networks and devices. Design & Deployment: Design and deploy Zabbix components (proxies, agents, templates) to extend monitoring coverage to new networks, servers, network devices, and applications. Architecture & Collaboration: Prepare and propose Zabbix system architecture updates, communicating effectively with System Architecture and Security teams for review and acceptance. Configuration & Automation: Develop and update Zabbix configurations, code (e.g., scripts, templates), and automations to collect infrastructure events, trigger automated ticket generation, and prevent outages. Data Visualization & Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive dashboards, maps, and reports to visualize system health, performance metrics, and capacity statistics for stakeholders. Incident Investigation: Proactively investigate and resolve monitoring-related issues using a systematic approach. Documentation: Produce and maintain high-quality documentation, including design documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and sprint reports. Agile Participation: Actively participate in the Agile workflow, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, review meetings, and retrospectives as directed by the SMC Manager. Essential Qualifications &
Experience:
University Degree and 3 years function related experience or Higher Secondary Education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience; Knowledge in cross-network monitoring architecture using Zabbix; Recent 3+ years of experience on design, installation and maintenance of Zabbix monitoring systems over multiple Active Directory domains; Expert knowledge in Zabbix toolset in large scale client-server based environment; In-depth knowledge in monitoring different aspects of the IT infrastructure and mainstream applications; General experience in all lifecycle aspects of Communication Information Systems (CIS) aimed at achieving effective system development and deployment. Desirable: Previous work experience in international organizations, such as NATO, or specialized Defence Industry; Zabbix Professional certifications; Excellent troubleshooting skills.
