pA large public Belgian organisation is looking for an experienced AI Architect to define and guide its target architecture for Generative AI, Machine Learning and Agentic AI, ensuring AI solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with the wider enterprise architecture. /p pbLocation: /b Brussels, Hybrid /p pbContract: /b Freelance /p pbDuration: /b 12 months minimum /p h3bThe Role /b /h3 pYou will define and maintain AI target and reference architectures, covering models, agents, data flows, gateways, platform services and applications. You'll work closely with technology, security, data and engineering teams to guide AI initiatives from experimentation and PoC through to reliable production environments. /p h3bKey Responsibilities /b /h3 ul liDefine target and reference architectures for GenAI, ML and Agentic AI /li liDesign architectural patterns across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments /li liDefine frameworks for AI Gateways, MCP, retrieval/RAG, model access, agents, identity, logging and observability /li liGuide delivery teams on architectural decisions, trade-offs and the transition from PoC/sandbox to production /li liConduct architecture reviews and identify technical debt, dependencies, risks and deviations /li liEmbed security, privacy, least privilege, data minimisation, isolation and traceability by design /li liDefine reusable AI platform, integration and developer-platform components /li liTranslate emerging AI technologies into practical architectural options and recommendations /li /ul h3bRequired Experience /b /h3 ul liExtensive Solution / IT Architecture experience within complex enterprise environments /li liStrong understanding of LLM and AI platform architectures, including retrieval, model serving, agents, evaluation and observability /li liExperience with APIs, event-driven architecture and enterprise integration patterns /li liStrong knowledge of reference architectures, Architectural Decision Records, non-functional requirements and lifecycle management /li liAbility to translate regulatory, privacy and security requirements into practical architectural principles and guardrails /li liStrong communication and advisory skills, working across architecture, engineering, security, data and business teams /li liAbility to analyse complex technical challenges and translate them into pragmatic, production-ready solutions /li libLanguages at a fluent level: English + French OR Dutch (Trilingual Preferred) /b /li /ul h3bNice to Have /b /h3 ul liExperience within public sector or similarly complex regulated environments /li liKnowledge of G-Cloud or OISZ environments /li liExperience establishing reusable AI architecture and platform standards across multiple teams /li /ul
