h3What you will do /h3 pYou will join the soil management team at a Flemish public organisation responsible for sustainable waste, materials and soil management. The organisation is modernising its soil file management application to support more proactive identification and remediation of contaminated sites across Flanders. /p pYour work will focus on gradually replacing parts of the existing application with new development, using a modern technology stack. You will also contribute to a machine learning project that helps prioritise quality control of asbestos inventories. /p pYour responsibilities include: /p ulliDeveloping Java-based applications using Spring Boot, Hibernate and REST services /liliBuilding front-end components with React /liliWorking with Azure, Kubernetes and ArgoCD for deployment and orchestration /liliLeading and coaching the development team /liliTaking a leading role in Agile development practices /liliCoding, testing and debugging with confidence and speed /liliContributing to a more geographic and streamlined approach to managing soil files /li /ul h3What we are looking for /h3 pbEssential

requirements:
/b /p ulliAt least 5 years of experience developing Java-based applications /liliEducation or certification in Java/J2EE or equivalent through experience /liliExperience in the waste management sector /liliExperience in the public sector /liliAt least 4 years of experience with Azure /liliAt least 5 years of experience with Hibernate, Kubernetes and React /liliExperience with ArgoCD and REST services /liliFluent Dutch at CEFR level C2 /li /ul pbHighly valued: /b /p ulliExperience leading a development team and coaching developers /liliStrong ability to execute programming tasks: coding, testing and debugging /liliKnowledge and experience of Agile development methodology, with the ability to take a leading role /liliExperience within the Flemish government /liliExperience with Angular, Atlassian Tools (5 years), Maven, Spring Boot and test-driven development /li /ul h3The setting /h3 pThis assignment runs from November 2026 to the end of December 2027. The role is based in Flanders, with hybrid working possible. You will work full-time in a Dutch-speaking environment. /p pThe organisation aims to have all historical soil contamination remediation started by 2036, requiring a significant increase in the volume of soil files managed.
