pWe are looking for a Senior Python Backend Engineer for a International institution in Brussels, Belgium, with strong experience in Python, Django, Flask or FastAPI, REST APIs and database development.br/ /p pYou will contribute to the development of secure, scalable backend applications, working with modern Python frameworks, databases, containerized environments and DevSecOps practices within an international IT environment.br/ /p pHybrid Brussels – 5 days onsite per month – Europe-based candidates within 2 hours of Brussels – Contractor – Fluent Englishbr/ /p pA work permit is required but not provided.br/ /p h3Tasks and Responsibilities /h3 ul liDevelop and maintain backend applications and services using Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI;br/ /li liDesign, implement and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services;br/ /li liDevelop and optimize database schemas, ORM models and SQL queries across relational and NoSQL databases;br/ /li liApply secure coding practices, authentication, authorization, encryption and vulnerability scanning;br/ /li liSupport automated testing, code quality and CI/CD processes using modern development and DevSecOps tools; /li /ul h3Profile /h3 ul liBachelor's or Master's degree;br/ /li li6+ years of professional Python development experience;br/ /li liStrong experience with Django, Flask or FastAPI and RESTful API development;br/ /li liExperience with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL and NoSQL technologies such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB;br/ /li liExcellent knowledge of ORM, database schema design and query optimization;br/ /li liExperience with Docker or Podman, Kubernetes and Linux environments;br/ /li liKnowledge of secure coding, OWASP-related vulnerability scanning, authentication, authorization and encryption;br/ /li liExperience with Git or SVN, code quality tools such as pylint, Black or flake8, and AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Amazon Kiro;br/ /li liExperience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions, and familiarity with Ansible and virtual machine management;br/ /li liFluent English, with availability to work onsite in Brussels 5 days per month.br/ /li /ul h3Key Technologies Skills /h3
