M3-BIORES is looking for a proactive laboratory technologist who can work highly independently and take responsibility for the technical management, optimisation and day-to-day operation of our specialised climate chambers, measurement systems and sensor infrastructure.
You will join the Measure, Model & Manage Bioresponses (M3-BIORES) research group within the Animal and Human Health Engineering division, part of the Department of Biosystems in KU Leuven’s Science, Engineering and Technology Group. M3-BIORES develops and uses technologies to monitor and improve the health, well-being and performance of humans and animals. Its research activities span Precision Livestock Farming (PLF), Human Health Engineering (HHE) and Micro-Environmental Control (MECH²). Within the MECH² research group, particular attention is paid to thermal comfort, indoor air quality, ventilation and personalised environmental control systems that contribute to healthier, more comfortable and more energy-efficient living and working environments. In this role, you will support researchers and students working in laboratories, climate chambers, livestock buildings and other measurement locations. You do not need to be familiar with all our specific systems from day one. We provide the guidance and training opportunities you need, both on the job and through targeted training, to help you develop your skills and build in-depth expertise in our equipment, calibration procedures and measurement systems. We envisage a 50% appointment for one year, with the possibility of conversion to an open-ended contract following a positive evaluation. There is also the possibility of increasing the appointment percentage to 100% over time.
A varied, hands-on role in which your expertise directly contributes to research into human and animal health and well-being, as well as the study of environmental conditions.
A structured onboarding and training programme, with opportunities for on-the-job learning and further development of specialist expertise in collaboration with colleagues, technical services and suppliers.
A stimulating, international working environment at the Heverlee campus (Kasteelpark Arenberg), complemented by measurement campaigns on farms and at other external locations.
Attractive employment conditions with additional benefits such as hospitalisation and group insurance, a cycling allowance, additional leave days and eco vouchers.
If you can immediately take on all the duties of this role, you w
