Serving a population of 500 million citizens, we promote and protect public and animal health in EU Member States, as well as the countries of the European Economic Area, by ensuring that all medicines available on the EU market are safe, effective and of high quality.

Within the Agency's veterinary activities, the European Surveillance of Veterinary Antimicrobial Consumption (ESUAvet) is one of EMA's high-profile outputs supporting the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

It covers the collection and analysis of data on antimicrobial sales and use in animals reported by Member States under Article 57 of Regulation (EU) 2019/6.

The ESUAvet team works closely with Member States, the European Commission and the Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP) to deliver scientific and regulatory surveillance outputs, such as ESUAvet reports and dashboards, that have uptake and impact across Europe and internationally.

The team also contributes to cross-agency projects such as the joint inter-agency antimicrobial consumption and resistance analysis (JIACRA) reports.

The team is a close-knit group of five colleagues working collaboratively to deliver high-quality surveillance activities and scientific support.

It works as part of the European Medicines Regulatory Network.

The Agency is looking to recruit an Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Officer, who will be involved in the ESUAvet activity by coordinating Member States' data reporting, contributing to data quality assurance and analysis, and helping to develop and continuously improve the digital tools and processes that support antimicrobial sales and use surveillance in animals.

The role offers excellent opportunities to build professional networks and to contribute to high-profile scientific and regulatory outputs.

Strong communication and networking skills, confidence when presenting to different audiences and the ability to adapt your communication style to technical and non-technical stakeholders are key to success in this role.

In this job you will:
* Lead the maintenance, development and continuous enhancement of the Antimicrobial Sales and Use (ASU) Platform and its associated digital tools and processes, including visualisation tools and Power BI dashboards supporting surveillance outputs.
* Cover the full lifecycle of business requirement management, IT releases, user support, testing and the implementation of improvements that strengthen efficiency and data quality management.
* Coordinate Member State reporting activities on antimicrobial sales, use and animal population data under Article 57 of Regulation (EU) 2019/6.
* Support Member States during annual reporting cycles and carry out data quality assurance and validation activities.
* Analyse submitted data and provide analytical contributions to surveillance outputs and products, including ESUAvet reports and dashboards.
* Maintain and develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support continuous improvement and the delivery of ESUAvet surveillance outputs.
* Provide scientific and administrative support to meetings, workshops and activities related to antimicrobial sales and use surveillance in animals, including preparing documentation, chairing or guiding discussions as appropriate, and coordinating assigned follow-up actions.
* Provide scientific and technical support to EMA's other activities related to antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance and to the implementation of relevant legislative requirements, including contributions to scientific opinions and advice of the CVMP.
* Contribute to cross-agency projects such as the JIACRA reports.
* Undertake additional assignments at the discretion of the Service Head, Head of Department or Head of Division to support the efficient business management of the Department.

The specific tasks of the job holder are further detailed in the activities of the organisational entity within which the job holder carries out those tasks; the set of annual performance and development objectives established together with the reporting officer; and the requirement to comply with SOPs, WINs, the Confidentiality Undertaking and other documentation relevant to the role and its scope.
