Senior Java Developer

h3Position Summary /h3 pWe are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our team working on the Flemish Government account, based at the Atos office in Zaventem. /p pYou will design, build and maintain robust, secure and maintainable Java applications and services that support Flemish public-sector digital services. You will work in a multidisciplinary team alongside analysts, architects, testers, DevOps engineers and the customer's stakeholders, taking technical ownership of your work and helping to raise the quality bar of the team. /p pAs Dutch is the working language with the customer and end users, fluent Dutch is a requirement for this role. /p h3Key Tasks and Responsibilities /h3 pDevelopment and Delivery /p ulliDesign, develop, test and maintain Java back-end applications, REST APIs and integrations using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot. /liliTranslate functional requirements and user stories into well-designed, scalable and maintainable technical solutions. /liliWrite clean, well-tested code, with a strong focus on unit, integration and automated testing. /liliAnalyse and resolve complex technical issues, including performance, security and production incidents. /li /ul h3Technical Leadership and Quality /h3 ulliContribute to technical design decisions, architecture discussions and the selection of tools and frameworks. /liliPerform code reviews, promote coding standards and best practices, and share knowledge within the team. /liliCoach and support junior and medior developers. /liliEnsure solutions respect security, privacy (GDPR) and accessibility requirements applicable to government services. /li /ul h3DevOps and Operations /h3 ulliContribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines, build automation and deployment processes. /liliWork with containerisation and cloud or on-premises platforms to deploy and run applications reliably. /liliSupport monitoring, logging and troubleshooting to keep applications stable, observable and supportable. /liliTake part in release planning, technical documentation and handover to operations teams. /liliWork in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) team and take part in planning, refinement, daily stand-ups and retrospectives. /liliCommunicate clearly in Dutch with customer stakeholders, business analysts and end users, and in English with international colleagues where needed. /liliWork closely with the customer to understand their needs, propose improvements and manage expectations. /li /ul h3Job Requirements /h3 h3Technical Competencies and Experience /h3 ulli5+ years of professional experience in Java development in enterprise environments. /liliStrong expertise in Java (11/17/21) and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security). /liliSolid experience designing and building REST APIs and microservices or service-oriented architectures. /liliGood knowledge of relational databases and SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle) and ORM frameworks such as JPA/Hibernate. /liliExperience with automated testing (JUnit, Mockito, integration and end-to-end testing) and test-driven practices. /liliExperience with Git, Maven or Gradle, and CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps). /liliWorking knowledge of Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes or OpenShift). /liliGood understanding of application security principles (e.g. OWASP), authentication and authorisation (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML). /liliFamiliarity with Agile ways of working and with software quality tooling such as SonarQube. /li /ul h3Languages /h3 ulliDutch: fluent, written and spoken (required). /liliEnglish: good working knowledge, written and spoken. /li /ul
