ph3Product Engineer /h3 pbGhent, Belgium | Full-time | Hybrid /b /p h3Build products that help power the energy transition /h3 pWe're working with a fast-growing energy tech startup in Ghent that is building software to manage the rapidly growing number of distributed energy devices across Europe. /p pSolar panels, home batteries, EVs and heat pumps are changing the way energy is produced and consumed. But coordinating millions of these devices creates an entirely new challenge for energy suppliers and grid operators. /p pThe company is building orchestration software that connects these assets into one intelligent system, helping energy companies reduce costs, balance supply and demand, and make renewable energy infrastructure work at scale. /p pThey are now looking for a bProduct Engineer /b who wants to do much more than simply execute tickets. /p h3The role /h3 pThis is a hands-on engineering role sitting directly between bproduct, customers and technology /b. /p pYou'll own problems from beginning to end: understand what customers actually need, decide what should be built, design the solution, build it, ship it and improve it based on real-world usage. /p pRather than receiving specifications from a product manager, you'll help determine the specification yourself. /p pYou'll work closely with the founders and customers and will have significant autonomy over both bwhat gets built and how it gets built /b. /p pThe company works AI-first and actively uses AI and agentic development tools to increase engineering leverage. The challenge is therefore increasingly not simply writing code, but exercising good judgment: identifying the right problem, designing the right solution and knowing when something is ready to ship. /p h3What you'll work on /h3 pYou will: /p ul liOwn product initiatives from customer conversation through design, development, launch and iteration. /li liWork directly with customers and become a trusted technical point of contact for selected accounts. /li liTranslate real customer problems into scalable product features. /li liChallenge requirements rather than simply implementing them. /li liMake pragmatic decisions around scope, technical complexity and customer impact. /li liBuild and maintain reliable real-time systems used within critical energy infrastructure. /li liIdentify repetitive or manual work and automate it wherever possible. /li liUse AI and modern development tooling extensively throughout the engineering process. /li liContribute to architecture, APIs, integrations and the broader technical direction of the platform. /li /ul h3What we're looking for /h3 pYou're first and foremost a strong software engineer, but you naturally think beyond the code. /p pYou enjoy understanding bwhy /b something should be built, not just how to build it. /p pIdeally, you bring: /p ul liStrong software engineering fundamentals and a solid computer science background or equivalent experience. /li liExperience building and shipping real software products. /li liA high level of ownership and comfort working independently. /li liStrong understanding of software architecture, APIs and data integrations. /li liExperience with modern backend and/or full-stack development. /li liStrong communication skills and confidence working directly with customers. /li liA product mindset: you question assumptions, identify the real problem and care

er outcomes. /li liCuriosity around AI-assisted development and agentic tooling. /li liExcellent written and spoken English. /li /ul pThe current stack includes bPython, TypeScript and SQL /b, although the team is deliberately stack-agnostic when hiring. Strong engineering fundamentals in another modern language are highly transferable. /p pThere is no rigid years-of-experience requirement. The team is primarily looking for strong mid-level to senior engineers, but exceptionally ambitious earlier-career engineers who can demonstrate significant ownership and technical ability are also encouraged to apply. /p h3Location /h3 pYou should be based in Europe and able to work regularly from the company's headquarters in bGhent, Belgium /b. /p h3Why join? /h3 pYou'll join a young technology company at a stage where individual engineers can still have a major influence on both the product and the way the company operates. /p pYou can expect: /p ul liSignificant autonomy and ownership. /li liDirect collaboration with the founders. /li liExposure to customers and real commercial problems. /li liThe opportunity to help shape both product and engineering practices. /li liCompetitive compensation. /li liParticipation in a stock option plan. /li liA technically ambitious environment with a strong focus on AI-enabled development. /li liThe opportunity to work on technology directly supporting Europe's transition towards a more distributed and renewable energy system. /li /ul pAs the company grows, the role can develop in different directions depending on your strengt
