As Quality Manager, you play a crucial role in safeguarding product quality and ensuring compliance with regulations, enabling us to consistently deliver products of the highest quality to our customers.

What does your day look like?

  • You are the key figure in developing and maintaining the quality system based on GMP, HACCP and quality management principles, while ensuring compliance with IFS, BRC and Autocontrol standards.
  • You coordinate and follow up on inspections and testing of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products.
  • You are responsible for external audits by customers, the FASFC and certification bodies, and you conduct internal audits.
  • By critically analysing production processes, you identify improvement opportunities and work closely with operational teams on process optimisation and quality improvement.
  • You ensure that quality is embedded on the shop floor by training and coaching employees on hygiene, food safety and quality standards.
  • You handle customer and supplier complaints in a correct and solution-oriented manner. In case of complaints or non-conformities, you perform Root Cause Analyses and implement corrective actions to safeguard long-term process quality.
  • You manage the quality team (assistant quality manager and quality controllers) and set clear priorities.

In this role, you report directly to the Plant Manager and act as a sparring partner on quality and food safety matters.

This is what we expect from you:

  • You hold a Master’s degree (bio-engineering, industrial engineering or a relevant field such as food science, biochemistry or chemistry) and have at least 3 years of experience in a similar managerial role within the food industry.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of quality management systems (HACCP, IFS, BRC, Autocontrol) and food safety standards.
  • You work accurately and in a structured way, with a hands-on and solution-oriented mindset.
  • You communicate clearly in Dutch, French and English and are comfortable taking responsibility.

This is what you get in return:

  • A competitive salary package including a range of fringe benefits.
  • We also offer an attractive cafeteria plan, giving you the flexibility to tailor part of your compensation package to your personal needs.
  • A versatile role within a growing international company with a dynamic culture and passionate colleagues.
  • Intensive training in an environment that encourages personal and professional development.
  • At Poppies Bakeries, we value a healthy work-life balance through flexible working hours.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the quality and food safety of our products.

I have recently started helping the quality team to guarantee that our products meet a consistent standard. My job is very varied, and I am in touch with the product and production process most days. What I’ve noticed is that I can approach everyone and contacting the management directly is not a problem. We have a good atmosphere in our team, and everyone helps each other whenever necessary. There’s also a great atmosphere at work and the people are understanding and motivated, which to me is essential
