Twipe is a mediatech scale-up based in Leuven, Belgium working with leading newspaper publishers in Europe and the US to grow their digital subscribers and sustain quality journalism. We offer cloud based digital edition publishing, analytics, and personalization solutions. Our innovative solutions accelerate the growth of newspapers including Le Monde, The Telegraph and the various titles of Mediahuis (De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad, De Telegraaf,…).
To inspire our industry, we gather and analyze industry knowledge and share insights with our growing Future of News publishers’ community.
Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of our Frontend (React / React Native) , including architecture, system design, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Stay hands-on in the code, contributing to complex features and solving challenging technical problems.
- Lead technical decisions and establish engineering best practices across our frontend.
- Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and fellow engineers to design, build, test, and deploy high-quality solutions.
- Coach and mentor frontend engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure our codebase remains clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented.
- Drive integrations with external systems, including authentication, authorization, APIs, and content distribution.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong expertise in Frontend, preferably in React / React Native.
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- A track record of mentoring engineers, leading code reviews, and raising engineering standards within a team.
- Experience building and evolving large, complex systems with high availability, scalability, and performance requirements.Strong experience with relational databases and cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, secure coding practices (OWASP), automated testing, and maintainable software design.
