Permitting Expert

The permitting expert is responsible for providing support to permitting process for our Belgian plants. This includes understanding the local / regional / federal regulations, completing permit applications, working in close collaboration with our operational teams as well as with the competent authorities to ensure timely and accurate permits.

He/She is also responsible for providing guidance and support to the operational teams “on how to comply” with relevant regulations and permit requirements.

Tasks

Prepare, submit and obtain from the competent authorities all required (building, operating, environmental) permits for the Lhoist Belgian plants, starting from definition of clear permit request scope to screening of permit requirements to be shared with the operational teams, including coordination of environmental impact studies, soil investigations, tracking the permitting process, etc.

Implement and maintain environmental compliance of the Lhoist Belgian sites in accordance with applicable Regional, National and European legislation and permits requirements:

Waking up employees about the importance of sustainability

Auditing the sites in collaboration with management and operating workers.

Supporting the sites in creating and implementing action plans and working methods to ensure sustainable compliance

Profile

Technical background (e.a Engineer)

Min. 7 years of experience in (heavy) industry

Critical & rigorous

Pragmatic & synthetic mind

Team spirit

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationship

Multitasking

Pro-active and driven by challenges

Very good communication skills in French (English being an asset)

Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations being an asset
