Job Summary:
Our client in Waterloo, ON is looking for a Software Engineer Controls. This is a contract position.
What You Will Do:
Dev Ops Developer, we believe that the automobile industry is transforming into a predominantly software driven landscape, where every car is a connected computer on wheels. As such, we are building a world-class software studio to drive this future, by hiring top talent and building highly productive teams. We like to say that we are writing modern code, on modern architectures, using modern development practices.
As North America's leading automotive manufacturer, sells a lot of vehicles, which means collects a lot of data. By joining the Analytics team, you will help bring the back-end of our data infrastructure to life. This work includes: designing and building new microservices for deploying new organizational capabilities; creating new secure and scalable REST APIs to service vehicle-to-cloud, cloud-to-cloud, and user-to-cloud workflows; and building cutting edge features that interact with next generation multimedia vehicle consoles. Our customers are mostly internal which means our team needs to pivot frequently and react quickly to a fast paced business cycle. For this position we are looking for an experienced candidate who is a quick learner and able to quickly adapt to the role. Ideally there will be some training time with another dev ops, but we are looking for a candidate who is able to take initiative in learning our systems, and who is not easily frustrated in unfamiliar scenarios.
Basics:
4+ years of dev ops experience in an OpenShift environment. 4+ years of cloud experience in GCP. 4+ Experience working with modern container platforms, including: Docker, Kubernetes, or related. Experience with scripting, XML, and JSON. Experience working in a dev ops environment using external services such as RabbitMQ and Redis, and databases. Strong understanding networking, proxies, and TCP/IP. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Experience with build systems including gradle. Experience working with Helm and managing deployments. Experience in day to day operations and troubleshooting. Experience with source control including Git. Hybrid position.Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience in Java with Springboot. Strong understanding of standard authentication mechanisms, such as: OAuth2 workflows, ADFS, SSO, etc. Experience with Monitoring Tools - especially Grafana/Prometheus.
