Freelance Data Engineer / BI Developer
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Data Engineer / BI Developer to support the design, development, and optimization of our business intelligence platform. You'll work alongside a collaborative team of BI professionals to build scalable data solutions that enable informed business decisions across multiple business domains.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with modern Microsoft technologies, transforming complex data into meaningful insights, and collaborating closely with both technical and business stakeholders.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models using dimensional modeling techniques, including star schema methodologies.
- Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks and the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
- Develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver valuable business insights to a range of stakeholders.
- Integrate data from multiple source systems into a reliable and high-performing data warehouse environment.
- Work closely with business analysts, controllers, and other stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions.
- Support self-service BI initiatives by assisting colleagues in developing and maintaining their own Power BI reports.
- Continuously improve existing BI solutions by enhancing performance, data quality, security, and scalability.
- Contribute to Agile delivery processes and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- Previous experience delivering Business Intelligence or Data Engineering solutions.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and Kimball methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Power BI
- Azure Data Platform
- Azure Databricks
- SQL
- Experience with Python, notebooks, Azure services, Jira, and Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) is considered a strong advantage.
- A proactive problem-solver with excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.
- Passionate about staying current with emerging technologies within the Microsoft data ecosystem.
