Function

Elia Group operates at the heart of the European electricity system as a critical infrastructure operator in Belgium and Germany. The ongoing energy transition and digital acceleration are profoundly transforming our technology landscape.

Traditional boundaries between Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) are disappearing, while cloud platforms, real-time data, advanced analytics, and modern infrastructure technologies are becoming central to how we operate safely and efficiently. At the same time, Elia must meet the highest standards for reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.

To support this transformation in a controlled and sustainable way, Elia Transmission Belgium is strengthening its transversal technology architecture capability and is looking for an IT Technology Architect to help shape, govern, and align technology choices across IT domains.

As IT Technology Architect, you are accountable for the technology architecture, technology standards coherence, and architecture documentation of complex projects and initiatives spanning multiple IT domains.

You are engaged from the earliest stages of initiatives to guide architectural decisions, consolidate existing technology standards, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles and target architecture.

You act as the integrator of technology architecture, coordinating domain architects and experts rather than producing architecture in isolation, and you formally represent IT Technology in governance bodies, including the Architecture Review Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and govern end-to-end technology architectures for transversal IT initiatives
  • Translate business needs into clear, scalable, and secure technology solutions
  • Consolidate, maintain, and promote IT technology standards and reference architectures across infrastructure domains (network, server/compute, cloud, end-user devices & associated platform and security constraints)
  • Coordinate architectural input from multiple domain teams and ensure consistency
  • Maintain high-quality architecture documentation (principles, standards, target and solution architectures)
  • Represent IT Technology in governance bodies, including Architecture Review Boards
  • Embed security, resilience, and regulatory compliance by design
  • Contribute to target architecture evolution, roadmaps, and standardization initiatives
  • Advise IT management, solution architects and business stakeholders on complex technology decisions and support change through clear communication, documentation and guidance.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in technology, infrastructure, or solution architecture roles in complex IT environments.
  • Strong experience in cross-domain IT architecture (infrastructure, cloud, data, security, platforms)
  • Ability to apply architecture management frameworks such as TOGAF and IT service principles such as ITIL.
  • Experience producing and maintaining architecture deliverables across levels (principles, standards, target and solution architecture).
  • Solid understanding of security-by-design and compliance constraints in regulated or critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of modern IT and platform technologies
  • Experience with regulated or critical environments is a strong asset
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Pragmatic mindset, balancing architectural ambition with opera
