Our client is the Belgian subsidiary of an international group operating in the music and creative industries. Based in newly established offices on the outskirts of Brussels, the company is experiencing strong growth across several European markets.
With around fifteen passionate employees, a young and informal working atmosphere, and an approachable management team that genuinely trusts its people, the business offers a refreshing environment for professionals who enjoy autonomy and responsibility.
As the company continues to expand, it is now looking to professionalize and structure its Belgian finance function - and this is where you come in.
Management is seeking someone who can lay the foundations of a robust local finance department, become a trusted business partner, and work closely with the Group Finance team based in the UK.
Your responsibilities
What You Will Build
The Belgian finance function is still in its early stages. You will join with significant autonomy and the responsibility to create a sustainable and efficient finance framework.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing financial processes, internal controls, and supporting documentation.
- Managing the full accounting cycle, including monthly closings, P&L reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and annual accounts preparation.
- Ensuring compliance with Belgian VAT requirements and handling complex cross-border transactions.
- Overseeing cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit control activities.
- Managing inventory accounting and stock-related financial processes in collaboration with operational teams.
- Supporting payroll administration and ensuring compliance with Belgian social security and tax obligations for approximately fifteen employees.
- Acting as a proactive advisor to management on Belgian accounting, tax, and legal matters.
Your profile
What You Bring
You have at least 10 years of experience in general accounting and have, at some point in your career, built or restructured a finance function.
You are comfortable creating structure where none exists yet and can work independently without requiring detailed instructions at every step.
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Fluent English is essential, as it is the primary working language with the Group. French and/or Dutch is required for local interactions and regulatory matters.
You thrive in informal and entrepreneurial environments, do not need rigid structures to perform at your best, and enjoy being part of a business where things move quickly.
