Mediahuis is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to strengthen the Data & Insights Team within Technology & Product Studio (TPS). If that’s you, read on Your impact.As a Data Engineer, your role focuses on productizing and maintaining our GenAI solutions. You’ll play a key part in bridging infrastructure and machine learning. You’ll work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to bring GenAI models into production, while ensuring the underlying systems are secure, scalable, and efficient. Keep reading, this opportunity is even better than you imaginedYour role includes.Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (Azure) using Terraform, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and scalability.Managing containerized ML applications with Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.Supporting the full ML lifecycle by monitoring model performance, optimizing infrastructure, and sharing best practices across the team to foster continuous improvement. What makes you a great fit?What’s on your CV is important, but it’s by no means the only thing we attach importance to. We are looking for a specialist with a can-do mentality and a passion for data. Someone who takes ownership of various GenAI solutions at operational level, but with an eye for the broader picture. You have strong problem-solving skills, a proactive and pragmatic attitude, and a collaborative mindset. You also have affinity with machine learning workflows – you don’t need to be an ML expert, but you understand how to take a model from notebook to production.Here’s what we’re looking for:3-5 years of experience as a data engineer, DevOps engineer or in a similar role.Programming expertise in Python in a machine learning or data context.Strong knowledge of Docker and cloud infrastructure; experience with Azure is a plus. And experience with Terraform; experience with Kubernetes (K8s) is a plus.Experience in a data engineering context is a plus, though heavy ETL is not the focus. Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure and GCP) and open-source tools like Airflow.English fluency is essential; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.Bonus points for:Experience with MLOps tools (such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, or Azure ML).Knowledge of security best practices in cloud-based ML environments.Interest in or experience with GenAI, LLMs, or prompt engineering. What's about to become your second home?You will join the GenAI team, which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of data engineers, data scientists and developers. The team builds generative AI solutions for the newsrooms, B2B and B2C departments of the Mediahuis group; think of generated headlines suggestions or an internal RAG for journalists.
