Senior Data Architect Brussels (100% on-site) 12-month project Belgian Identity required since it's for a department of the Government About the Role We are looking for a Senior Data Architect with at least 10 years of experience to design, govern, and optimize complex data architectures. You translate business and stakeholder needs into scalable, secure, and future-proof data solutions, aligned with organizational strategy and regulatory requirements. You play a key role in defining data standards, ensuring data quality and integrity, and driving innovation through modern data technologies. Key Responsibilities Design scalable data architectures aligned with organizational strategy Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models Design, build, and optimize ETL and ELT processes Implement automated data workflows and monitor data pipelines for errors or delays Collaborate with stakeholders, data scientists, analysts, and development teams Work with unstructured data and big data technologies Contribute to data lakes, AI and ML integrations, and real-time data processing Deliver clear, well-structured documentation in English Coach colleagues and provide technical leadership across teams Requirements Minimum 10 years of experience as a Data Architect Strong expertise in data architecture, data governance, and data modeling Deep technical knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including Graph databases Experience with Apache NiFi or similar data flow and transformation tools Solid understanding of data and application lifecycle management and CI/CD Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean Familiarity with GDPR and data management in regulated environments Experience with modern data concepts such as data lakes, AI, ML, NLP, and real-time processing Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills Why Join Work on data solutions with real societal impact in a highly sensitive environment Contribute to large-scale, mission-critical data systems Collaborate with experienced professionals using modern data technologies Practical Information Belgian nationality required ️ French or Dutch as primary language, with basic knowledge of the other national language and English Security clearance at Top Secret level, or willingness to obtain it No remote work possible, full-time on-site in Brussels (around Brussels-North) Flexible working hours Interested?
