About the Role Our client in Brussels is seeking a driven Finance Controller to join their team on a 9-month freelance assignment. This position is a blend of robust financial control with strategic business partnering, ensuring accurate financial management, delivering valuable performance insights, and supporting leadership in key decision-making. Key Responsibilities Oversee monthly and quarterly closing processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with group policies Provide clear, data-driven financial analysis to support commercial and operational decision-making Design and maintain robust internal control frameworks to safeguard compliance and minimize risk Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans Partner with department heads to deliver actionable financial insights and strategic recommendations Ensure full compliance with Belgian accounting, tax, and statutory regulations Lead initiatives to enhance financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system effectiveness Coordinate with auditors, external advisors, and group finance teams during audits and reviews Requirements Solid experience as a Finance Controller, Business Controller, or Senior Accountant Deep understanding of IFRS and Belgian GAAP, with a strong track record in financial reporting Practical experience with major ERP systems (such as SAP, Dynamics 365, or Oracle) Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures Fluent in English and Dutch
