As a member of our Media Relations team, the Media Relations Consultant for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) will be responsible for promoting and protecting Corteva's reputation, shaping the organization's image, and maintaining good public relations through various forms of media. This role will elevate how Corteva communicates and engages with external audiences across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Build and strengthen public narratives in the media to support key desired business and policy outcomes.
  2. Build, strengthen, and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, and other key media within the region.
  3. Identify, develop, and deploy compelling media stories to appropriate outlets and through appropriate spokespeople.
  4. Convey scientific information in a relatable, impactful way across media outlets.
  5. Proactively monitor and respond to issues and crises, in collaboration with regional and global team members, to ensure coverage is balanced and accurate.
  6. Lead proactive and strategic media relations counsel and guidance to Public Affairs and regional leadership teams.
  7. Train executives on media interactions.
  8. Create and execute an integrated media strategy to build, strengthen, and maintain a strong corporate reputation within the region.
  9. Lead daily media monitoring and reporting of relevant issues with the global Media Relations team.
  10. Ensure accuracy in reporting on Corteva, correcting facts and content when necessary.
  11. Collaborate with the global Public Affairs team to understand and integrate messaging centered around innovation, sustainability, and impact.
  12. Lead and support ad-hoc media projects and activities.

Qualifications:

Professional Experiences/Qualifications:

  1. Experienced communications professional with 10+ years of experience supporting communications (in-house or agency) including extensive work within media relations.
  2. Bachelor's degree. Liberal arts, journalism, or related field degree preferred.
  3. On-the-record spokesperson experience.
  4. Experience establishing relationships with top-tier reporters and editors preferred.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French; exceptional public speaker.
  6. Proficiency in editing content in English and French.
  7. Results driven; ability to successfully execute and manage through ambiguity.
  8. Ability to critically assess any given issue and provide counsel on the recommended path forward.
  9. Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly adapt to changing needs.
  10. Ability to effectively prepare spokespeople and engage reporters.
  11. Ability to navigate a matrixed organization effectively and independently.
  12. Fluent in English and French.
  13. Ability to travel, when necessary.
  14. Ability to work outside of standard office hours, when necessary.
