🚜 Mechanical Design Engineer – Agricultural Innovation | West Flanders Are you a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer passionate about sustainable agricultural technologies? Our client, a fast-growing leader in agricultural machinery based in West Flanders, is searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering team. About the Role: You’ll be a key player in the full mechanical design lifecycle—from conceptualization and CAD modeling to prototyping and testing. You will work on smart agricultural machinery projects, including: IoT-enabled equipment: integrating sensors and telemetry for precision farming Automation & robotics: developing autonomous systems for planting, harvesting, and soil management Sustainable solutions: designing energy-efficient, low-emission machinery components Your expertise will help shape durable, reliable, and cutting-edge agricultural machinery that meets the evolving needs of farmers worldwide. Key Responsibilities: Lead mechanical design efforts using advanced CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic systems Conduct structural analysis, stress testing, and materials selection to guarantee safety and durability under harsh agricultural conditions Manage prototyping phases, including overseeing build, testing, and validation of new machinery components Continuously improve existing designs for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards Document technical specifications and support regulatory certification processes What You Bring: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, or robotics Proficiency in 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with FEA tools Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, casting, machining) and materials science Experience with automation systems and embedded hardware integration is a big plus Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to innovate under real-world constraints Fluent in English; Dutch or French language skills are advantageous Why Join This Company?
