Freelance Opportunity: Epic Owner – Data Integration Modernization 📍 Location: Leuven/Ghent (up to 50% remote) 🕒 Type: Full-time, freelanceAbout the Role We are looking for an Epic Owner to take end-to-end ownership of a strategic data modernization initiative. The project involves replacing an on-premise ETL platform with a modern, cloud-ready data integration solution. You will define the vision, guide execution across multiple Agile Release Trains, and ensure alignment between business goals and technical requirements.You will work closely with architects, product managers, scrum masters, data engineers, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure a controlled, secure, and value-driven migration.Key ResponsibilitiesLead vendor selection (RFI/RFP) and collaborate with procurement & architecture teamsDefine long-term vision and strategy for ETL/data integration modernizationDevelop epics, business cases, MVPs, and success metricsAlign priorities, dependencies, and risks across business owners, IT teams, and architectsPrepare PI Planning, monitor progress, and manage cross-team dependenciesIdentify risks and drive mitigation actionsEnsure data quality, security, privacy, and compliance standardsContribute to migration strategy, adoption, and training plansYour Profile5+ years of experience in data integration, ETL, or data engineeringExperience with traditional ETL platforms and modern cloud-based solutionsExperience in SAFe or Agile-at-scale frameworks (Epic Owner, Product Owner, Product Manager…)Strong stakeholder management and ability to translate technical concepts into business valueAnalytical, structured, and experienced in leading complex migration programsClear communicator with ownership mindset and focus on continuous improvementWhat We OfferLead a strategic modernization initiative shaping the future data landscapeCollaborate with experienced data engineers, architects, and Agile teamsWork in a multicultural, international environment
