Freelance Project: Cloud Platform Solutions (CPS) Engineer Start Date: ASAP (with onboarding period of ~2 weeks) Duration: Initial 3‐month contract, extension possible Work Regime: Full‐time Location: Mechelen region On‐site Days: Tuesday & Friday Languages: Perfect English (mandatory), Dutch is a plus Role Overview We are looking for a Cloud Platform Solutions Engineer for a hybrid role that combines solution engineering, stakeholder management, and ownership of an internal cloud self‐service platform. You will act as the primary interface for internal customers and guide them in selecting the right infrastructure solutions. You will also take ownership of an existing self‐service portal and help evolve it into a scalable, automated, and user‐centric platform. This assignment sits at the intersection of infrastructure advisory, platform evolution, and cross‐team coordination. Key Responsibilities Customer & Infrastructure Advisory Act as the first point of contact for internal teams seeking cloud or on‐prem infrastructure solutions Translate business and technical needs into feasible, scalable infrastructure designs Advise on VMs, storage, networking, databases, middleware, and related components Platform Ownership Contribute to the functional and architectural evolution of an internal self‐service cloud portal Define and prioritize roadmap items, building blocks, and enhancement requests Ensure stability, continuity, and quality during ongoing changes Collaboration & Delivery Work closely with infrastructure engineers, solution teams, and offshore partners Ensure solution designs meet performance, scalability, security, and cost‐efficiency standards Follow up on delivery, implementation, and customer satisfaction Strategic Impact Help steer the platform toward a fully digitalized, automated self‐service model Contribute to long‐term improvement initiatives and platform governance Requirements & Qualifications Experience Levels Master's degree + minimum 5 years experience Bachelor's degree + minimum 7 years experience No relevant degree + minimum 10 years experience Able to take ownership quickly and operate with a senior mindset Must‐Have Skills Broad experience in IT infrastructure (cloud and/or on‐prem) Strong understanding of: VMs Storage platforms Databases Networking Middleware Experience in solution engineering, technical consultancy, or hybrid advisory roles Strong communication & stakeholder management skills Customer‐focused and service‐oriented mindset Ability to set priorities, define roadmaps, and think strategically Comfortable in large, complex enterprise environments Excellent English communication skills Nice‐to‐Have Skills Experience with public or private cloud platforms Background in technical leadership, product ownership, or program management Experience with self‐service portals or automation platforms Experience working in telecom or other large enterprise environments Experience working with distributed/offshore teams Dutch language skills
