Enterprise / Technology Architect – Infrastructure & Cloud (Long-term Mission) Location: Antwerp, Belgium Start ASAP Full-time (50% remote) Languages: English required, Dutch is a plus About the Role We are looking for an experienced Enterprise / Technology Architect – Infrastructure & Cloud to join the Enterprise Architecture team of a large and complex organization in Antwerp. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and governance of robust, scalable, and secure IT infrastructures and technology platforms that support business processes. You will guide technical teams in solution design, advise on architectural decisions, and ensure consistent standards and documentation within your domain. You combine hands-on technical expertise with a strategic, high-level architectural vision, working closely with internal teams and stakeholders while contributing to the continuous optimization and modernization of the IT landscape. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Strategy & Planning Define and maintain infrastructure strategies and roadmaps aligned with IT and business objectives Design future-state architectures and investment plans Technology Evaluation & Selection Assess existing and emerging technologies Perform proofs of concept (PoCs) and recommend solutions supporting operational efficiency and strategic goals Architecture Design & Standardization Design detailed infrastructure architectures (network, compute, storage, cloud, platforms, integration) Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and best practices (SOA, EDA, microservices, API-driven architectures) Documentation & Knowledge Management Maintain architecture documentation in enterprise repositories (Confluence, Wikis, LeanIX) Ensure knowledge transfer across teams Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Support the definition, testing, and maintenance of DRP and BC plans Manage risks and ensure resilience Cloud Services Management Define, manage, and optimize cloud strategy Select, deploy, and integrate cloud services with on-premise infrastructure Ensure security, compliance, and performance Stakeholder Collaboration & Governance Participate in technical forums and architecture communities Advise teams and stakeholders on architectural decisions Contribute to architecture governance processes Required Expertise Technical Skills Deep knowledge of enterprise infrastructure (network, compute, storage, cloud) Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environments Strong understanding of networking and security technologies (firewalls, load balancers, VPN, IAM, Zero Trust) Experience with virtualization and container platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Docker) Design and implementation of disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability solutions Infrastructure automation & DevOps practices (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines) Knowledge of architecture frameworks and methodologies (TOGAF, ITIL) Understanding of modern architecture patterns (SOA, event-driven architectures, microservices, API-first) Strategic & Analytical Skills Ability to develop long-term infrastructure strategies and capability roadmaps Risk analysis, mitigation, resilience, and continuity planning Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Collaboration & Advisory Skills Work closely with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams Influence decisions and build consensus on technology choices Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Contribute to architectural governance, standards, and best practices Profile 7–12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, including several years in senior engineering or architect roles Experience in large, complex enterprise environments (preferably multi-site or global) Proven experience in cloud adoption and modernization Solid background in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing Experience writing technical standards, reference architectures, and governance processes Personal Skills Independent, flexible, and able to perform under pressure Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement Strong team player with a collaborative attitude Curious, eager to learn, and capable of strategic thinking Comfortable managing changing circumstances and multiple stakeholders Excellent communication skills and strong relationship-building abilities
