Freelance Senior Accountant Position. This position sits within the central finance team and will involve both hands-on accounting work and light coaching responsibilities for a small group of junior accountants. The mission offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic, fast-evolving industry environment with a mix of operational and analytical responsibilities. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Manage general accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end and year-end closings. Ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and group accounting policies, maintaining accurate financial records for local and consolidated reporting. Prepare VAT declarations, tax filings, and statutory documentation in collaboration with external auditors and advisors. Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports, providing analysis on variances and key performance indicators. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (procurement, billing, and operations) to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve process efficiency. Review and validate postings prepared by junior accountants, offering guidance, feedback, and day-to-day coaching to ensure quality and consistency. Contribute to the rollout of system or process improvements related to automation, reporting tools, or internal controls. Assist in ad-hoc financial projects and provide operational support to the Finance Manager during peak closing periods. Requirements for the Candidate Experience: Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a corporate or industrial environment. Prior exposure to the Telecoms, Technology, or Utilities sectors is a strong plus. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Belgian GAAP; knowledge of IFRS is an asset. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar). Advanced knowledge of Excel and familiarity with financial reporting tools. Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset. Good communication skills and the ability to support and guide junior team members. Proactive, structured, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, project-driven setting.
