Function: Project Engineer (Hands-on & French speaking) Type: Freelance Location: South from Gent Work Setup: Onsite, fulltime Duration: 6–12 months Start Date: January Language: French essential; Dutch preferred; English acceptable if French-speaking No Visa Sponsorship Available ONLY FREELANCERS About the role We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer for a 6–12 month freelance assignment in the area of South Gent. You will support engineering projects within a food production environment, with a strong focus on hands-on problem solving, supplier management, and the practical execution of civil, mechanical, and electrical works. Work includes CIP-related processes, troubleshooting, and coordinating multidisciplinary project activities. AutoCAD is the core engineering tool for this role. Responsibilities Assess technical situations and design effective engineering solutions Manage suppliers, timelines, and project budgets Coordinate and engineer civil, mechanical, and electrical project scopes (and some camera systems) Prepare working permits and ensure safety compliance Troubleshoot issues on-site and determine optimal supplier solutions Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Project Engineer in industrial or food production environments Strong background in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering Proficient in AutoCAD Experience with food processing systems; CIP knowledge is a strong plus Hands-on mindset, able to work autonomously in a dynamic setting IMPORTANT Only EU-registered freelancers can be considered.
