About the role:

The consultant will leverage prior experience with VAX, particularly COBOL-based applications, to understand customer requirements, provide both consultancy and development support after an initial ramp-up phase, progressively take ownership of application maintenance within approximately two years, and ultimately contribute to the long-term VAX migration to PSImetals by applying the acquired in-depth knowledge.

You Bring (Experience + Qualification):

  • Strong expertise in COBOL and experience working with VAX/OpenVMS environments.
  • Fluency in French to facilitate communication with customers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills to understand, assess, and address customer requirements effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, as the role involves interacting with French and Russian-speaking teams.
  • Being based in Belgium for easier customer interaction and on-site support.

A Plus is Always Great:

  • Prior experience in the steel industry, providing valuable domain knowledge.
  • Proficiency in English to support broader collaboration.
  • Familiarity with industrial systems to enhance understanding of customer operations.
