Function

Elia is facing one of its major challenges: powering the decade of electrification. The energy transition and the massive electrification will accelerate in the coming months and years. As part of its role as market facilitator, Elia is engaged in the development of a "Consumer Centric Market Design (CCMD)".

Increasing shares of sustainable energy resources and massive electrification generate a paradigm shift in the consumption behavior: demand will have to adapt to the available production. One of the key solutions is to foster the development of flexibility and to unlock the flexibility located behind the head-meter of the consumer, while keeping this process seamless and beneficial for the consumer.

The "Consumer Centric Market Design", which constitutes an upgrade of the current market design, aims to address this challenge. The "Consumer Centric Market Design" is comprised of two pillars that bring major benefits:

1. The first pillar is to allow an easy exchange of energy, on and behind the head-meter, between the consumer and any other market party, allowing him to benefit from energy as a service. To this purpose, Elia is currently working on a platform dedicated to Exchange of Energy Blocks (EoEB) that integrates easily in our current market system.
2. The second pillar is the evolution to a Real-Time Price. Elia is engaged in the development of a new model for the imbalance price that can easily be interpreted by the consumer to valorize its flexible assets in accordance with the real-time system needs.

The "Consumer Centric Market Design" requires the development of digital platforms and toolings supporting these market designs.

Elia is looking for a Product Owner that understands and challenges design principles, ensures their implementation in an agile mode and proposes customer-oriented solutions.

As Product Owner, you are the CEO of your own product:

A big and important part of your responsibilities is to support Elia's stakeholders

• Support Elia's current and future customers to build or access new services based on their needs
• Support Energy Services Providers to build new solutions based on the services developed with Consumer Centricity product cluster
• Participation to events, conferences and workshops with Elia Stakeholders pertaining to the products and services in scope
• Collaboration with other actors within the energy sector to develop common approaches and integrated solutions
• Ensure understanding and implementation consistent with local (Belgium or Germany) responsibilities and opportunities

Implementation of digital products & platforms

• Participate to the deployment of the Consumer Centric vision to further unlock flexibility at all voltage levels, potentially ensuring new value streams for the Elia Group
• More specifically, the product owner will be working on unlocking flexibility through the marketing of our products. By making them 'digestible', 'attractive' and 'actionable'.
• Lead the implementation of the products and functionalities under your responsibility
• Challenge design principles, technical solutions and define operational processes
• In the context of our product approach, take the defined roles in the Product Team's ceremonies
• Manage the resources and budget in collaboration with all parties involved
• Ensure products and services are developed with an eye on the digital transformation and platformisation strategy of Elia Group
• Coordinate with other Product Owners with regards to the releases of products to the same customer segment.

Your Profile

• You have experience in the energy sector. A good knowledge of the Belgian energy market is essential to be successful in the role
• You can effectively create a product vision and are adept at managing complex stakeholder relationships
• You know how to launch a product to market
• You can collaborate with technical teams to deliver your product
• You communicate fluently in English, complemented by at least Dutch or French
• At least four years of experience as Product Owner or Product Manager for digital software products is a big plus
• You can function in a dynamic environment and integrate updates quickly.
• You think solution-oriented and are proactive: you propose solutions or alternatives to make progress.
• You are customer-oriented and can work independently.
• You enjoy working in a team, have an entrepreneurial attitude and are result-oriented
