On behalf of a small, highly innovative biotech company preparing to enter the clinic, we are seeking an experienced freelance Chief Medical Officer to provide strategic and hands-on medical leadership. The company is advancing a novel therapeutic program in rheumatology toward first-in-human and early clinical development. Key Responsibilities Serve as the medical lead for transition from preclinical to clinical development Provide clinical and scientific input into first-in-human and Phase 1/2 trial design Act as the internal and external medical authority for rheumatology indications Support regulatory strategy and interactions (e.g., IND-enabling, FDA/EMA meetings) Guide clinical endpoints, patient population selection, and biomarker strategy Collaborate closely with R&D, regulatory, and executive leadership Support KOL engagement and, as needed, investor and partner discussions Required Qualifications MD (or equivalent) with formal training and clinical experience in rheumatology (mandatory) Prior experience as a CMO in biotech Direct involvement in early-stage clinical development (pre-IND, Phase 1 and/or Phase 2) Strong understanding of rheumatology clinical trial design and regulatory expectations Ability to work effectively in a lean, fast-moving biotech environment Preferred Experience Previous freelance, fractional, or advisory CMO experience Experience taking a rheumatology asset into or through the clinic Exposure to rare and/or immune-mediated inflammatory diseases Comfort interfacing with investors and boards #J-18808-Ljbffr
