Purpose
You provide individual social, psychosocial, and administrative support to residents by offering first-line information and advice to support them in their procedures and stay at the center.
Background
The Arrival Center was established in December 2018. The center serves as the unique entry point for all International Protection Seekers (IPS). Its mission is to ensure the identification and initial reception of IPS. Identification is carried out by the identification service of the Office of Foreigners. The center has a capacity of 800 residents (600 structural places and 200 reserve places) with 150 staff members.
The Arrival Center consists of two operational poles: the 'Dispatching' pole and the 'Reception and Orientation' pole, a support services direction, and coordination. The staff of the 'Reception & Orientation' pole provide guidance to residents during the arrival journey (initial reception). The arrival journey consists of a short stay including the provision of material aid and the identification of the DPI's main needs for orientation to a residential reception place.
As a social expert, you work within a multidisciplinary team including social workers, nurses, and social accompanists.
Responsibilities
- You provide residents with clear information on the center's operations, their rights and obligations, the right to asylum, and reception, as well as possible consequences.
- You manage the social file of certain residents, identify their vulnerabilities and needs through social screening.
- You support residents individually in the administrative processing of their asylum application: you follow their file, manage necessary documents, request and share relevant information with internal and external services.
- You offer practical social support to residents to increase their autonomy, both inside and outside the center.
- You are the individual point of contact for certain residents. You provide a familiar environment, build a relationship of trust, refer to specialized services if necessary.
- You are responsible for ensuring compliance with the center's rules, including general peace, order, and a good way of living together within the center.
- You act proactively and intervene in complaints and conflicts.
- You work to create a trusting atmosphere to promote the general well-being of residents and prevent psychosocial problems.
Educational Background and Experience
You hold a Bachelor's degree/preferably in the social sector.
You have relevant professional experience in social work.
Technical Skills and Requirements
You have good knowledge of the asylum procedure and the social network.
You have a sensitivity/interest in working with a vulnerable multicultural target group (families, isolated men/women).
You have basic knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, etc.
Assets
You are familiar with multidisciplinary teamwork and/or a residential context.
You have knowledge of English and/or other foreign languages.

Contract Type
Fixed-term contract (all contract types) on a full-time basis (38 hours/week).
A recruitment reserve is established for all types of employment contracts for a period of 2 years. This reserve can be used for other Fedasil centers.

You are initially hired for the AMC site but will regularly reinforce other sites in the Brussels region.
Salary
You are recruited at level B1 with the applicable salary scale. The minimum gross basic salary ranges from € 2,856.54 (starting salary without seniority based on a full-time employment contract, at the current index).
